Can we talk about shower gel for a minute? 👀

We’ve somehow got used to buying a plastic bottle full of something we use to wash ourselves, throwing the bottle away, then buying another one.

And have you ever actually stopped to look at what’s in it? 👀

Most shower gels are detergent-based cleansers rather than traditional soap, and the ingredient list can be… quite the read.

Maybe we’ve just overcomplicated having a shower. 😂

MONOFLORAL VS MULTIFLORAL HONEY 🍯

You might have seen these terms on honey jars, but what do they actually mean?

Monofloral honey is predominantly associated with one particular floral source. Think heather honey, borage honey or Manuka honey. These honeys tend to have a much more distinctive flavour and character from that particular flower.

Multifloral honey is made up of nectar from lots of different floral sources. So instead of one dominant flower, you've got a mixture and that means the taste, colour and characteristics can vary depending on what was flowering and where the honey came from.

Neither is automatically better. They're just different types of honey, and that's part of what makes honey so interesting.

But then I came across this jar…

“Multifloral Manuka Honey” 👀

And this is where it gets interesting.

If you picked this up thinking you were buying pure Manuka honey, you might want to have another look at that little word “multifloral"

🔥 I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE! 🔥

Flowers! 🌸 Fire 🔥 Honey 🍯

I’ve teamed up with Löyly & Jää Sauna and Cosmos Flowers for a really lovely Autumn Equinox morning 🌱

We’re starting with making our own flower crowns with Cosmos Flowers, so you’ll get to choose your flowers, make your own crown and, most importantly, wear it for the rest of the week because we’re not wasting that effort 😂

Then we’ll have breakfast together, there’s the option of a Guided wild river dip for anyone feeling brave, then followed by a 60-minute sauna ritual with Zoe, she will use Salt scrubs, Aromas & Birch whisks to enhance the experience in the brand new Joki Sauna on the banks of the River.

And then I get to do my favourite bit… 🐝

I’ll be talking all about the secret life of bees, what actually happens inside a hive, how thousands of bees manage to work together using heat & teamwork to survive winter, and some of the fascinating (and slightly mad) things they get up to 👀

It’s a bit of flowers, a bit of fire, a bit of water and a lot of bees.

Basically, a pretty good excuse to spend a morning doing something different. 🍂

A little reintroduction from us at Herd & Hive 🍯🐐🐝

A lot has changed over the years- the bees, the goats, the products, the markets, the number of jars we get through and the size of the to-do list. 👀

But one thing has stayed the same: it’s a family affair.

And honestly, I think that’s what makes Herd & Hive, well.... Herd & Hive. ✨

🏆 HIGHLY COMMENDED AT THE NATIONAL FINAL🏆

Well… I’ve only gone and done it again! 😂

Out of over 1,000 young traders who applied from across the UK, just 95 made it through to the National Final and I’m absolutely happy to say I’ve been awarded Highly Commended. 🥹🏆

Of course, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want that overall Young Market Trader of the Year title… because I REALLY do 😂 But to be recognised as Highly Commended at this level, amongst some seriously brilliant young businesses, is something I’m incredibly proud of ❤️

I’ve entered this competition year after year, and I’m still here, still growing Herd & Hive and still having a go.

And the best bit? I’ve got a couple more years before I hit 30 and apparently I'm not classed as young anymore….

So I’m not giving up on that trophy just yet. 😉🏆

For now though, Highly Commended Nationally out of 1,000+ applications. I’ll take that! ❤️
