Position: Sealing & Packing Team Leader Location: Sittingbourne – COOK Pastry & Pies
Hours: Monday to Friday 2pm to 10pm

Sealing & Packing Team Leader, you’ll be the driving force behind the final step of our production process. From sealing to sleeving to boxing, you’ll make sure every product leaves our doors in perfect condition. Leading a dedicated team, you’ll combine attention to detail with efficiency to guarantee our customers receive nothing less than excellence.

The Role
Product Quality & Accuracy:
Oversee sealing, sleeving, and boxing processes to meet accuracy, speed, and presentation standards.
Verify that all products are correctly frozen, and ensure x-ray machines and metal detectors are appropriately set.
Compliance & Record Keeping:
Confirm that all products meet target weights (a legal obligation) and ensure corresponding paperwork is completed accurately and legibly.
Manage and maintain freezer operations, ensuring blast freezers are defrosted as required.
Process Verification:
Ensure labels and sleeves are correct before sleeving and that all packaging aligns with product specifications.
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead and support the sealing and packing team to achieve daily targets while fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.

Previous experience of having worked in the food industry, preferably food manufacturing is essential.

The Role

- Take action to ensure delivery of the weekly menu against financial and labour targets
- Manage labour budgets and KPI's while identifying and delivering improvement opportunities Work with kitchen teams to improve yield and minimise waste Develop and implement plans to reduce waste of resources across the department
- Lead and support Continuous Improvement (CI) activities to improve efficiency and performance
Manage held stock and investigate root causes of issue
- Manage stock flow through the department to reduce the risk of product exceeding 36 hours Work closely with engineering to improve equipment reliability and efficiency Set high standards for the area and implement plans to improve GMP and general standards
- Lead and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring accidents, near misses and safety observations are reported, investigated and corrective actions implemented in a timely manner Take part in Taste Panels and encourage the team to do the same

Location: Based at our Sittingbourne HQ three days a week, with occasional travel to partner sites and external events.

About the Role
Our pioneering RAW Talent Programme (RAW stands for Ready And Working), supports people with barriers into sustained employment at COOK. This might be due to criminal convictions, time in prison, homelessness, mental ill-health, neurodiversity, or refugee status.

Finding a steady job, and an understanding employer, can be virtually impossible. Yet it is often one of the most important factors in helping someone get back on their feet. Since we started RAW Talent in 2014, we have supported over 250 people through the scheme, learning a huge amount along the way.

At COOK, we’re searching for a compassionate, people-focused Co-ordinator to support our RAW Talent programme. This role plays a key part in supporting both existing and potential RAW Talents, providing day-to-day guidance, encouragement, and practical support throughout their journey.

Key Responsibilities:
You will support the RAW Talent programme by helping oversee the day-to-day running of COOK’s flagship Social Impact programme, ensuring RAW Talents and those who work with us, receive consistent guidance, support, and encouragement by:
Buddying RAW Talents,* regularly checking in with RAW Talents during their first four months.
Acting as a key point of contact* for RAW Talents as questions or issues arise.
Lead on admin duties,* sorting out the coordination, and ensuring the smooth running of the programme.
Manage the RAW Talent inbox* responding promptly and helpfully to a wide range of enquiries.



You’ll also support on:
Recruitment and Referrals:* Liaising with existing partners and coordinate chats, ensuring smooth scheduling and follow-ups.
Internal and external communications:* Assist with communications to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
Delivery of Work Ready training:* Support the planning and delivery of training sessions for RAW Talents.
Kitchen Manager meetings and check-ins:* Support our people who are leading RAW Talents.
Internal updates:* Contribute to internal updates, engage colleagues with COOK’s purpose (Nourishing People & Planet) and the actions we are taking to deliver it.

Overview
As part of the Engineering Team, the Site Engineering Lead will provide day-to-day leadership of site engineering activities, ensuring reliability of production equipment, services, and infrastructure.
The role is responsible for delivering effective maintenance practices, continuous improvement activities, safe working standards, and development of the site engineering team while supporting site operational objectives.

Main Responsibilities

Site Engineering Leadership
• Lead and coordinate the site Engineering Team and maintenance activities, aligning priorities with Site Management
• Act as the senior on-site engineering point of contact
• Lead by example in demonstrating company values, safety behaviours, and compliance
• Support development and training of the engineering team in line with site requirements
Equipment Reliability

• Communicate engineering activities, risks, and improvement opportunities to site leadership
Maintenance Budget & Contractors

• Coordinate service contracts and contractor activity on site
• Track and report key engineering KPIs and spend to site management
Safety & Compliance
• Lead site engineering health & safety practices
• Support audits and drive completion of resulting engineering actions
Continuous Improvement
• Implement Root Cause Analysis for significant breakdowns and integrate findings into PPM improvements
• Support Lean and professional maintenance methodologies
• Identify and support site-level capital improvement projects
Energy & Sustainability
• Monitor site utility usage and engineering waste
Good to have
• Proven experience of acting as senior site engineer
• Engineering apprenticeship with relevant technical qualifications
• Strong mechanical/electrical experience in manufacturing environments
• Understanding of food safety and HACCP practices (desirable)

Your Team
As part of the wider People Team you put people first and are critical to the delivery of the COOK strategic plan. Enabling people to be the best they can be, the People Team continually strive to make COOK the best place to work in Britain.

You’ll be reporting to the Payroll Manager. You will be responsible for processing all aspects of payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

What you’ll be doing‿

Core Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and accurately manage the end-to-end processing of payroll for 2000+ employees on 4-weekly and weekly payroll cycles.
* Meet and exceed all payroll deadlines.
* Reconcile payroll data, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective action where needed.
* Assist with pension administration, including auto-enrolment assessments and contributions.
* Cover for Payroll Manager holidays.
* Any other reasonable request.


Learning & Development:
* Write well-documented process notes with a focus on learning and improvement.
* Be aware of legislation and budget changes which affect payroll processing.
* Knowledge of PAYE/NIC, statutory payments and payroll thresholds, e.g. redundancy, SMP/SAP, SPP, ShPP, SSP, salary exchange initiatives.

Team Collaboration
* Liaise with other teams across all areas of the business to assist in accurately and timely recording and reporting of payroll data in accordance with company policy.
* Ability to provide payroll information and resolve payroll queries in a clear and professional manner.
* Guide and support team members in using the People/Payroll systems when required.
* Produce reports and supply data on various aspects of payroll when requested to do so by internal and external stakeholders, e.g. ONS, HMRC, Audit requests.

* 3+ years experience in payroll coordination or a senior payroll support role.

* Management of people data in a professional and confidential manner.
