Well… we finally did it. This weekend we opened the StØrm Gallery Skipness. It has taken a few months of refurbishment and lots of community support (Love Skipnessers!)
It felt a little like being on one of those design shows on TV where I had a very specific design concept “I need a double height ceiling” and “it must be dark blue”…”how about a copper floor?”…”surely we can open in July?” and Colin with great support from Gordon (aka. uncle G) patiently replaced the rotten floor, stabilised and panelled the walls, had the place rewired by a professional electrician (Thanks Ryan McGlynn).
Colin and I worked around shop duties and long distance taxi runs and appreciated all the help we received from our neighbours. Seriously too many to list! So one big thank you!
We have a beautifully bespoke Razor Clam Light built and gifted by Jess Gill as a fixed statement piece.
Alongside Colin’s wonderful photography, the gallery showcases local artists work from Argyll and Arran. We have contributions covering Paintings by Scott Macdonald art, Original prints by Karen Beauchamp, Ceramics by Adam Harvey, Ceramic Jewellery by Sarah Duncan, Glass art by Emma Wells, Wood - Kintyre Wildwood Co. and Textile art by Cathleen MacDonald and handmade clothing by Pamela Watson and Light Art by . Also featuring locally made Candles by Loch Fyne Candles and Soap by Kirsty at Damn Fyne Soap.
