A very big thank you everyone who have sent me lovely messages over the last few days. It has meant so much to me ♥️
I have had a very quiet morning back in the preserves kitchen to fulfill an order. A lot of prep whilst sitting down and a very slow pace to complete sauces that I would normally have made in half the time. Another job when I feel up to it will be cut back the blackberry growth outside the kitchen window now that they have finished fruiting but that is definitely not a job for this week 🤪

Week our couple of days away to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary in Paignton hasn’t gone quite to plan after I found myself with a kidney stone that decided to pass.
A very big thank you to all of the lovely staff at Newton Abbot and Torbay Hospitals for their great care. Thank you to hubby who has had kidney stones twice before and who has been looking after me. Home tomorrow but still in discomfort so I will taking it easy for a couple of days x

Hello Autumn 🍁

29/08/2026

A little peek behind this weeks work. It has been all about planning and making for the ‘c’ word and with a couple new flavours for this year.
Blood Orange, Cranberry and Port Marmalade and Boozy Berry Jam with Pink Prosecco. These will be on sale at Lytes Cary Craft fair on the second weekend in September ♥️

Just a regular day in my life. From early morning dog walking and stopping to play on the adventure play area in the grounds of Lytes Cary NT, collecting a fruit order, prepping around 7500 strawberries, jam and cordial making, helping wean the lambs, picking sloes whilst waiting for hubby in between trailer loads(I’ve never seen them ready this early) and finishing with a cheeky zero gin and tonic with Strawberry Tea Cordial. 🥱💤

A morning spent making chutney to restock the storeroom and to give it time to mature.
I think that if I wrote myself a job description for August it would state that I need to spend at least an hour a day in the beautiful Somerset countryside being prickled, scratched, bitten being mosquitoes hiding in the bushes and my hands being stained by the fruit. And I wouldn’t have it any other way ♥️

Delighted to receive my certificates from Taste of the West today but less than pleased with the service from Royal Mail with the envelope crushed and forced into our post box with no care given to the email.
Luckily only the envelope was torn and with a little bit of pressing the certificates will be good to frame and hang on the storeroom wall ♥️
