Herbs & Honey is a small family run project which was started in the early 1980's by Anne and Bernard Bailey. The original business developed from an interest in keeping bees and a love of growing plants that were more than just pretty to look at. Anne and Bernard's children have now revived the enterprise which is based in the beautiful surroundings of the Dengie Hundred in Essex.

My father would be so proud of his granddaughter today winning 5 of her 7 classes entered in the Essex Honey Show 🐝 this was a far more competitive show than I imagined! Look at how many colours and types of honey have been produced in Essex 🤩

With a field of Lucerne in bloom near to the hives the bees are making the most of it.

There will be honey for sale from the farm gate this afternoon produced by my mentor and local beekeeper Keith Lomax. An outstanding knowledgeable beekeeper. Many of his hives overlap our farm producing beautiful flavoured honey. I have his calm hardworking strain of bees in my apiary and they are a credit to his knowledge in breeding 🍯
