Wednesday already?! Where does the time go? Well I started the week with the busiest veg box day of the year (thank you thank you), a mammoth 11 hour shift but well worth it to get delicious organic produce to your doors.

I also had the pleasure of my first farm collection this week on the way back from the wholesalers. A local organic certified farm out in Aughton. To be able to work direct with local growers as a retailer is the original OmNom mission. Building those relationships, shortening the supply chain, building local resilience. That’s the goal and it’s pretty cool that the background work is now visible in the shop. Anyway next on the list of jobs is a newsletter so I can chunner on there instead of here.

Fresh produce this week includes Aughton spring greens and rainbow chard and Scarisbrick spring onions. Lovely red Batavia lettuce, red peppers, carrots, cucumbers, courgettes, avocado and tomatoes. New batches of garlic, yellow and red onions, turmeric and ginger root. Sweet potatoes have now sold out.

Fairtrade bananas, English gala apples, peaches, nectarines, blueberries and new lemons available for fruit. Cherries have now sold out.

This weeks wholefoods offer is 15% off organic bulghur wheat. So if you want to try or stock up, come on down.

We celebrated the 1st of June with all the colour this week in our fruit and veg boxes 🙌 If you would like to start the week with a box full of certified organic produce to keep your fuelled and nourished for the week ahead, all you need to do is head over to www.omnomzerowaste.co.uk place your order and I’ll deliver every Monday.

This weeks highlights include zucchiolo squash, radishes, graffiti aubergines, green zebra tomatoes (my fave), Scarisbrick salad potatoes, pak choi and French beans.

Top picks for organic fruit are peaches, nectarines and blueberries with discounts on apples, kiwis and limes.

Your favourite natural sunscreen just landed back at OmNom!

Shade is natural mineral sunscreen with only 4 ingredients (coconut oil, beeswax, Shea butter & zinc oxide) that is 72% organic and provides broad spectrum protection. Available in 100ml or 15ml. Rates 98/100 on Yuka (Excellent).

Also available at OmNom; UpCircle mineral sunscreen which ive been using the last few days, absorbs really well and has vitamin e and upcycled raspberry seed oil to protect against free radical damage. 60ml size. Rates 83/100 on Yuka (Excellent).

Our last option is Organii mineral sunscreen certified organic and enriched with aloe Vera, green tea leaf extract and coconut oil to leave your skin soft and supple. Comes in a tube and offers SPF 30 in 100ml size and SPF 15 in 50ml size for everyday use on your face. Rates 67/100 on Yuka (Good).

We’ve got all your hydration fruits and salad ingredients this week folks, so if you can survive the heat to get here you can enjoy our in shop air con whilst you peruse the goods.

Highlights include mini watermelons, cherries, loquats, apricots, apples, lemons, limes, kiwi and bananas.

For veg we have bunched new season carrots, jersey royals, cos lettuce, cucumbers, cherry and salad tomatoes, courgettes, celery, peppers, mushrooms, cauliflowers and sweet potatoes.

And if you’re planning your meals don’t forget to check out our wholefoods range where you can pick up all your pasta, fregola, orzo, quinoa, couscous, bulghur wheat, buckwheat, lentils and rice. We have a huge choice of tinned beans from Suma and Mr Organjc with an offer on tinned green lentils from Suma.

You can also pick up some fresh organic orange juice with your eggs, cheese, butter and milk, or maybe a nice chilled kombucha to enjoy with your lunch?

I talk so much about our fruit and veg you’d be forgiven for not knowing that there is so much more to find at OmNom.

Our wholefoods range includes lentils, quinoa, buckwheat and orzo, nuts and seeds such as almonds, Brazils, pumpkin and linseed, figs, dates and mulberries in our dried fruit, herbs and spices, granulated, caster and Demerara sugars, and 6 varieties of rice!

The non food range includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand wash and household cleaning products.

Still bringing my lunch to work in my trusty Elephant Box stainless steel lunchbox, nearly 8 years and still going strong!

Today’s lunch is a simple chickpea pasta salad made with:

Wholewheat organic fusilli from our refill range
Suma organic chickpeas from our tinned range
1/2 organic carrot from our fruit & veg
1/2 organic cucumber from our fruit & veg
Organic Greek feta cheese from Sainsburys
A good drizzle of Clearspring organic avocado oil from our oils and vinegars range
Chopped mint leaves from the garden
A good pinch of Aura sea salt with pepper to finish.

It was meant to have avocado and olives but I ran out of space so had those with breakfast instead!
