The Blackcap is the first songbird species known to change its migration route, due to food regularly provided in UK gardens. With over 1.2 million breeding pairs, they thrive in woodland undergrowth during breeding season, & visits more open areas including gardens in winter. Blackcaps can be very bold & often aggressive towards other birds at feeding station & often will defend a food source by chasing off other birds. All the species of tit which visit and live in gardens will readily take live mealworms at this time of year to feed to their young – provided that is that Robins don’t take them all first! Buy live mealworms here: https://ow.ly/Owhi50S487Z

Offering live food is a great way to support your garden birds in spring; they are especially important during the breeding season and during dry spells when natural food, such as earthworms and insects, may not be as accessible.

Available to purchase from the Farm Shop or our website https://www.vinehousefarm.co.uk/live-mealworms

🐝It's World Bee Day!!🐝

Bees are an integral part of our ecosystem & are in severe decline, due to habitat loss, pollution & climate change. To help reverse this decline, create a safe haven for bees in your garden by planting native pollen & nectar-rich flowers with different shapes, sizes, colours & bloom times.

We are lucky enough to have bee hives on our farm, looked after by Local Honey Fenapiaries We're also lucky enough to stock their delicious honey in the Farm Shop & when in bloom you can even tell which honey came from our sunflowers - because it is a brighter yellow than the rest.
