“Water, water, every where, Nor any drop to drink.”
My interest in water treatment started in the early 2000’s when I found myself in a career, based in the sub-continent, involving water purification and the provision of safe clean drinking water to villages in remote parts of Bangladesh.
Dynamic Corporation, of Bangladesh, for whom I was a Project Manager & Engineer, collaborated with Chatoyer Water, from Australia, to install tube wells and provide self sustaining water purification systems, powered by solar energy, to rural parts of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh had a problem with high levels of arsenic in water, mostly from hand pumped tube wells; this was a result of bacterial activity in the water table which in turn lead to release of dangerous levels of arsenic. About 20 years after coming to worldwide attention, an estimated 20 million people in Bangladesh, mostly rural poor, were still drinking arsenic laced water.
A solar powered biological treatment system was developed to aid with the removal of arsenic from drinking water and we aided in the installation of this system throughout the country.
