Falleninch Charolais

Falleninch Charolais The Falleninch Herd of pedigree Charolais cattle lies in the shadow of Stirling Castle and within the boundaries of the great historical City of Stirling.

Welcome to The Falleninch Herd of Pedigree Charolais Cattle. The Falleninch Herd of pedigree charolais cattle graze in the shadow of Stirling Castle and within the boundaries of the great historical city of Stirling. Our traditional family farm also houses our own on-farm butchers supplying fresh produce to the public within 10 miles of Stirling. For the past 50 years our foodservice company has s

upplied quality meat and produce to hundreds of hotels, restaurants, outside caterers and wholesalers across central Scotland. The Falleninch Herd has been firmly established on the roots of strong female families which have been acquired over three generations of the Hornall family, from my late grand-father Andrew.B. Hornall, my father John Hornall (Stirling herd) and now myself Andrew B. Hornall. These female families have been carefully selected by us through actually visiting over 120 herds, which still is ongoing, to establish which animals are breeding the truest to type and to see what relations are breeding in a similar way. This enables us to discover if there are any imperfections in the past history of any female family which we have selected. I feel the Falleninch Herd has been built on good principles, reasons and foundations for any purchaser buying an animal with the Falleninch prefix can be assured that every effort has been done in the background, to the best of my knowledge, to ensure every animal has a sound pedigree. Although we had no bulls forward at the Stirling bull sales we would just like to congratulate Hamish Goldie of the Goldies Herd and Michelle Hanson and Darren Irvine of the Silvermere Herd for their magnificent achievement with Falleninch breeding featuring heavily in their success.
Hamish Goldie averaged over £15k for 12 FALLENINCH STORMZY sons with a top price of 20,000gns on 3 occasions. FALLENINCH STORMZY…..the gift that keeps on giving!!😂
Michelle and Darren sold their Senior Male Champion, SILVERMERE VANQUISH, by FALLENINCH MEMO for 24,000gns. This is the second bull sold from them by FALLENINCH MEMO with the previous one making 11,000gns.
Well done to both breeders and we are very proud that our small herd can produce animals that have gone on and performed so well for other breeders.

WOW! What an amazing time we had at this year’s Royal Highland Show 2025! Thank you to all who have messaged me. Sorry I can’t reply to you individually but a huge appreciation for all your kind comments. It means so much. Big shout out to Norman Taylor,Stephen Taylor and Graham Logan for doing such a great job over the whole year. Without these guys none of it would happen. You need the team behind you to make it. Winning both the Overall Junior Championship with FALLENINCH VALENTINA and then the Overall Championship of the Show with FALLENINCH TOMMY is very special but when Stephen Taylor went on to win the Young Farmers Stockman of the Year that was when the tears flowed! So proud of him!

If all politicians could come and see what was on display at this years show and see what the agriculture industry does for the public and economy, perhaps they would understand how much the camaraderie of occasions like this, big or small, can help so much with mental health within this sector. Fun,laughter, friends, and a few drams are the best tonic in the world!
It starts at the grass roots and you can’t get anymore than seeing it for real at this year’s Royal Highland Show!
Thank you once again! Onwards and upwards!

Well what a day that was yesterday! A record price average for the Charolais breed at Stirling Bull Sales. It’s evident that the commercial man understands that kilos makes pounds! If there is ever a time to invest in a Charolais bull it’s now.
We had a great sale where we sold our young bull FALLENINCH UTOPIA for 15,000gns. He has been a good calf all his days. This is only the 2nd calf off our very easy calving bull,FALLENINCH SOPTIF, who is doing a super job for us. Huge thanks to Norman and Stephen Taylor for all their help…never a dull moment in their company! Thank you to all the buyers, breeders and mart staff for all their work for making history yesterday!

Another great day had by all at the Stars of the Future. Well done to all the team who make this day a very special one in the cattle world. Huge amount of work goes into organising it and to make it the leading calf show in the Country.
We had a good day ourselves picking up Junior Male Charolais Champion and reserve overall champion with FALLENINCH VALDERRAMA. Also FALLENINCH UTOPIA and FALLENINCH VERA picked up 2nd places in their respective classes.
Thanks once again to Stephen Taylor and Jessica Hornall for all their help. Also to our team manager, Norman Taylor, who keeps us on the right path!! Here’s to 2025 STOF!🍾
