We are delighted to share that this month our Madeleine Angevine will be served at one of Hampshire’s most celebrated events, The Grange Festival.

Set against the stunning backdrop of The Grange Estate, the festival runs from 2nd June - 12th July with a programme of opera and music, including La Bohème, Giulio Cesare, Eugene Onegin and a special tribute to Frank Sinatra 🎵

Our Madeleine Angevine is known for its crisp, refreshing character, with delicate floral aromas and vibrant citrus notes. If you are attending the festival we hope you will join us in raising a glass 🥂

Looking for something different to try to match the weather? Our Madeleine Angevine is a beautifully elegant white wine, reminiscent of an English orchard and perfect for summer drinking ☀️

Ripe orchard fruit and flinty aromas mingle on the nose and continue to show on the palate.

The mouthfeel is rounded with a slight chalky texture: a nod to the Hampshire chalky soils on which the grapes were grown, tempering the wine’s racy acidity and adding structure. A light honeyed note develops on the finish, contributing a subtle richness.

Rulander is a synonym for Pinot Gris, a white grape variety originating from France.

We prize it as a blending partner for both our Reserve still white wine and our sparkling Cossack 🍾

It brings a vibrant, crisp and slightly nutty character to the final wine.

Tutored vineyard tour amongst the vines of our small 7 acre vineyard, with the Estate Manager.

Tasting of two wines in our traditional tasting room accompanied by home made nibbles🥂

Discover our underground chalk cellar where the wines are stored.

Danebury is rarely open to the public and places are limited so this is a unique opportunity to visit us. All our wines will also be available to buy cellar door on the day.

Our Madeleine Angevine vines ripen first and therefore are the first we harvest 🍇

These delicate fuzzy burgeoning buds are the first sign of the vines springing to life after their much needed winter dormant period.

This time of year can be a daily battle with spring frosts, making it a crucial time for the vines.

🤓 We’re lucky as thanks to our microclimate and a combination of the vines being trained quite high, the vineyard being on a south-facing slope and gaps in the hedgerow at the bottom of the vineyard, the frost tends to roll out. This means we don’t experience much damage from ground frosts. The hedging and trees surrounding the vineyard act as protection from air frosts too, so when we do experience frost very little is damaged.

We champion English heritage grape varieties and the result is a range of approachable white wines that work beautifully with or without food.

English Heritage Grape Varieties grown at Danebury -

🍇 Madeleine Angevine - early-ripening grape suited to cold climates that produces an attractive fruity and floral wine, with a crisp and dry palate.

🍇 Auxerrois Blanc - from the same ancestry as Chardonnay and prized for producing wines with a delicate and fragrant character.

🍇 Schönburger - a pink-skinned variety with delicate floral aromatics that is well suited to sparkling wine production.

🍇 Rulander - a synonym for Pinot Gris producing elegant wines with fresh acidity, citrus, green apple and mineral notes.

The 2022 vintage of Cossack is made using the traditional method from a blend of 95% Auxerrois Blanc and 5% Rulander before being aged on its lees 🍾

Our flagship sparkling wine exudes the warmth and ripeness of orchard fruits with aromas of apple, pear and white peach. Lemon and grapefruit on the palate are balanced by subtle ye**ty notes and a fresh, vibrant acidity. The mousse is delicate yet persistent, complimenting a clean, refreshing mouthfeel through to the finish 🥂
