🔥TYNE VALLEY SUCKLER HERD TURNS TO THE POWER OF THE HEREFORD🔥

We sell bulls nationwide but breaking into the local Northumberland suckler herd market has always been a challenge. As so many farmers are devoted to Limousin and Continental breeds.

Three years ago, Steven Smith of East Greenridge Farms approached us about purchasing a Hereford bull to work with his suckler cows. They visited our herd and took home Moralee 1 Ariat, a son of 2023 Sire of the Year Moralee 1 RHS Prince.

Crossed with Simmental Cross cows, the calves have proven strong, well-shaped and easy to calve. Steven and his son William were so impressed by the docility, ease of fleshing and ability to match the DLWG of Continental cattle that they have bought two more Hereford bulls from us. In 2024, they purchased Moralee 1 Barndancer and this year Moralee 1 Connor.

When Tom delivered Connor, he was delighted to see both Ariat, Barndancer and their calves. It was wonderful to witness the bulls’ development and the quality of the calves – a truly proud moment.

Herefords are a key part of East Greenridge Farms’ future plans. We’re excited to see their journey continue and thank the Smith family for trusting Moralee Herefords.

With more local farmers also turning to Hereford perhaps it’s worth considering? We welcome enquiries about bulls, females or even a casual look for those curious or tempted!

Semen from Moralee bulls is also available from UK Sires or direct from us.

📸🔥NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY SHOW - PART ONE - PRE SHOW PHOTO DUMP🔥📸

As many of you know, Di has invested in a proper camera. It’s not for serious photography but to try to capture some good cattle shots and the spirit of showing.

Here are a few snaps from Friday’s preparations at home by the team. Then settling the cattle in at the show, and a few drinks with show friends catching up at the first show of the season.

Part two with results and more pictures to follow! Although Di didn't have time to pick her camera up on show day🙈

✨SORRY WE'RE MISSING YOU DEVON!✨

It’s become a tradition to start our show season at Devon County Show. This all began just after Covid when Devon bravely organised a show in 2021 when many shows cancelled. A return to the show ring was much needed, and we’ve supported Devon County Show ever since. We’ve always been warmly welcomed by everyone.

This year we’re very sad that the show clashes with Northumberland County Show, just two miles from home. So our journey south to Devon isn’t possible.

Success has come our way at Devon in 2021 with Moralee 1 Rebel Kicks winning the Interbreed, and last year our Bawnlea Fighter Fury was Hereford Breed Champion. Some fantastic memories!

I’m sure we’ll be back – the sunshine, cider and scones are going to be a big miss this year! Good luck Devon County Show and all exhibitors, especially our travel companions Keadyview and Arradfoot & Newland Pedigree Livestock.

Tom, Di, the Moralee Team and our Class of 2026 look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday at Northumberland County Show.

🔥HORNED HEREFORDS AT MORALEE🔥

In 2020, we all turned to online shopping to lift our spirits and get through Covid. Many also adopted a new dog, while we at Moralee invested in a cow! We purchased Auckvale Curly 1831S during the Designer Genes online sale for 10,000 Guineas - which was then a record breaking price for a horned female. This marked the introduction of a new horned female line at Moralee, offering us a chance to explore different genetics and expand our herd.

We now have a few daughters retained, and like their dam, they are strong yet feminine, milky females. The standout is Moralee Curly CI288, a twice-Horned Female of the Year sired by Parkhill Pompei. She now has her own heifer calf, sired by last year’s Horned Bull of the Year, Bawnlea Fighter Fury.

We’ve successfully flushed Auckvale Curly and were fortunate enough to obtain some rare, old semen for flushing. We’ve also bred October 2024 born ET bull Moralee Convoy GR385 with a bull from the 1990s, Haven Granville. Convoy is developing into a strong bull with impressive bone, depth and capacity.

Just another "string to our bow"! We do have horned cattle and genetics available for sale. Please contact us for more information.

JUST ANOTHER KYLIE ❤️....

The original Moralee 1 Kylie is now 13 years old and still going strong. She has 29 registered progeny to her name. Mother of breed record bull Moralee 1 Big Time and Moralee 1 Kylie KS S3 Champion of Europe.

It's not only sons and daughters that are shining through, she is also a grand dam and a great grand - dam! Catching the eye this weekend was this great grand-daughter Moralee 1 Kylie TE377 - she certainly has the trademark Kylie shape and head. Shes also not looking too bad from wintering outside!
