I wanted to take the time to fill you in on what’s going on with me at the moment, good news and bad news I’m afraid - so please prepare for a lengthly read I’ve tried keeping it as short as I can🫣
I’ve been keeping a bit of a secret… the good news is that my husband Dan and I are expecting another baby early 2025 as a few of you will be already aware of and we are so blessed🥰!!🫶🏻🩷💙
After lots and lots of thinking, sleepless nights laid thinking about everything, speaking to Dan, family, friends and fellow baker friends I’ve decided I’ll be stopping cakes from mid/end of October and enjoying the last couple of months with my little family of 3 until the new baby arrives.
So I’m aware I took a 3 month break last year for my own mental health and a rest, but this time is different for me and my little family, think it’ll be hard work with 2 children!
So basically I will be needing to stop cake orders from the middle/end of October, (I will be messaging the 2/3 of you that are affected and sorry for this). The reason for this is due to the fact I would be needing another inspection for food hygiene from the council which lasts 3 years, re do all my courses for things like food safety, allergens etc at a cost to me and then not doing any further cakes from there it does seem a little pointless and a no brainer given the very few orders I have booked in and would rather do all of this when and if I’m ready to return and make use of the full 3 years.
I would personally rather see where I am and how I manage once the new baby arrives after taking maternity leave and seeing where things lie with having 2 children, then if I decided to return it would mean rebooking an inspection and redoing doing all of my courses. So seems a no brainer on my part and don’t want the additional stresses with our rainbow baby and orders. 🌈
This hasn’t been a decision that’s came lightly and I hope everyone supports my decision on this.
