Rounding up week off from my real job 🐮

A full week spent tidying, washing, fixing, shifting, worming, drenching, weighing, organising, mucking out, mucking in, fencing and the hunners of other jobs that are always on the cards - it’s good for the soul 🧘‍♀️
I actually have a proper grown up off farm job as an Agricultural Business Analyst where I provide benchmarking info, statistics and performance analysis data to farmers and to policy makers. The farming gig is just my side hustle 😉
I find being hands on definitely helps when I’m working with farmers. Knowing the hundreds of things we should be doing to make everything as efficient, sustainable, low impact, cost effective as possible but also knowing what the reality is and how we can meet somewhere in the middle 👌🏻

Checking the back end calves this evening - left hand field is Bull calves, right hand one is Heifer calves. All growing well and love a visit from Uncle Colin 🦄 who thankfully ignores all their shenanigans!

We are ready and set up for tomorrow’s NSA Sheep Event 2026. Make sure you pop along and visit our stand to have a go at our competition! We also have a fantastic show of Lleyn sheep kindly donated by our Midland Lleyn Sheep Breeders Club members.

Luke is furious he has been taken home and away from his girls 😤
Panther, the Simmental bull, is furious because until Luke came home he was top dawg, now he has been put back in his box by the Boss 👊

Panther sires the next generation of cows here at Nether Toucks, we use him on the females that do best for us to try and breed replacement Heifers from them. We record a lot of traits to ensure we are keeping the best of our herd.
Luke sires our commercial calves which are aimed at the beef market, all bull calves are kept entire and finished between 12&16 months old. Heifers are usually finished before 20 months or sometimes sold as store cattle.

Meet one of our big Daddies - Luke. Over a ton of pure power, but really he is a big soft lump. He’s definitely a favourite 😍
