🌱 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤-𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐬?

With silage fields coming out of production and grazing slowing towards the back end, now is the time to start thinking about forage crops for autumn and winter.

A few points to consider before drilling:

✅ Choose the right crop for your livestock – Are you grazing lambs, weaned calves, in-calf cows or ewes? Different crops suit different systems.

✅ Soil temperature and moisture matter – Warm soils and adequate moisture will give the best establishment, so don't wait too long.

✅ Plan ahead for winter feed – A successful forage crop can help extend grazing, reduce winter feed costs and make better use of available ground.

🌱 Forage R**e – Mid July to late August
🌱 Hybrid Brassicas (Redstart, Swift, etc.) – Late July to mid August
🌱 Stubble Turnips – July to early September
🌱 Leafy Turnips – July to late August
