🐝 What a brilliant evening we had last night! 🐝

We headed up to Stoke-on-Trent to join the North Staffordshire Beekeepers Association, where Kevin presented his talk “Feeding the Bees Through the Seasons.” 🐝🍯

Beekeepers from Cheshire also joined the meeting, and it was lovely to recognise at least four familiar faces from previous events. We had so many lovely conversations throughout the evening — it really is one of the best things about travelling around the beekeeping community. ❤️

And I’ll be coming home with considerably less of our Busy Bees Cosmetics than I took! 😂🐝 Our beeswax cosmetics were very popular, and it was so lovely to see beekeepers choosing their favourites. Thank you so much for all your purchases, lovely feedback and kind comments — they really do mean a lot to us. 💛

After a very busy Bank Holiday Monday working, packing orders and replying to lots of new beekeeping enquiries, today we’re having a little day off. 😊

We’re going to explore the local market town of Stone, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, have a long walk and maybe find ourselves a couple of beers later… 🍻

Behind the scenes 🐝🍯

A little glimpse today behind the scenes at Stour Valley Apiaries — a delivery of our empty honey jars arriving on pallets! 📦🍯

And alongside the jars… my brand-new EpiPen! 😬

After my first bee sting years ago resulted in a very swollen, shriek-like face 😇😂, my second sting last month caused my throat to swell. So, after a chat with the doctor, I’m now carrying an EpiPen with me.

When you work around bees, you can never be too careful — better to be safe than sorry! 🐝❤️

Just part of the joys of being a bee farmer’s wife! 😉🐝

Ten years ago, Kevin started the Abberton Bee Project with a simple aim – to help more people understand, enjoy and care for honey bees, while beginning the journey of reintroducing the native honey bee into the Abberton area of Essex.

What began as an idea has grown into a fantastic community of volunteers, all learning together, sharing knowledge and developing their beekeeping skills.

Saturday marked Kevin’s final weekend leading the project as he hands over the reins after a decade at the helm.

It’s hard to put into words how proud I am of everything he has achieved over the last 10 years. The friendships made, the confidence he’s helped build, and the journey to reintroduce the native honey bee around Abberton are all part of a legacy that will continue long into the future.

A huge thank you to every volunteer who has been part of the journey, and to those taking the project forward.

We’re heading down to Lyndhurst today for Kevin’s bee talk with the New Forest & District Beekeeping Association all about:

Always lovely to spend time with fellow beekeepers and chat all things bees, honey and practical beekeeping.

We’re also making the most of the Bank Holiday weekend with a little day out in Lymington tomorrow 🍻⚓️

A good mix of bees, fresh air, good company and sunshine is forecast too ☀️🐝💕

A lovely delivery today to John Coleman Butchers 🐝🍯

We always enjoy dropping off our honey to this long-established family butcher, known locally for their quality meats, friendly service and support of local producers.

You’ll now find a selection of our honey jars on their shelves ready for customers to enjoy over the Bank Holiday weekend.

After the delivery, we made the most of the fresh air with a walk with Oscar around High Woods Country Park 🌿🐾

A beautiful green space just outside Colchester town centre with woodland trails, open spaces and plenty of nature — the perfect way to slow down for an hour before heading back home.

A lovely honey delivery to National Trust Wicken Fen 🍯🌿

The gift shop is now stocked with a beautiful range of our Stour Valley Apiaries honey including Suffolk Runny Honey, Soft Set Honey, English Summer Wildflower Honey, Borage Honey and English Spring Blossom Honey in both our large 340g jars and smaller 138g jars.

Wicken Fen is one of the oldest nature reserves cared for by the National Trust and is a wonderful place to visit, filled with wildlife, peaceful walks and stunning fenland scenery.

It’s always such a lovely drive and a pleasure to deliver there.

We’re very grateful to supply our honey to such a special place and hope visitors enjoy taking a little taste of the English countryside home with them 🐝💛

A lovely local honey delivery to the beautiful Ickworth House 🌿🍯

Set in stunning parkland near Bury St Edmunds, Ickworth is a much-loved National Trust property known for its iconic Rotunda, historic house, gardens and peaceful walks.

It’s always a pleasure supplying our local honey to such a special Suffolk destination.

Our bees work hard across the Suffolk countryside collecting nectar from seasonal blossoms and hedgerows, creating the delicious local honey we’re proud to harvest, jar and deliver.

Supporting local produce and local pollinators is something very close to our hearts 🐝

If you’re visiting Ickworth over the coming weeks, enjoy a wander through the grounds and keep an eye out for our honey too 🍯✨
