Grutness & Laaward Shetland Ponies

Here is Cognax having her farrier treatment yesterday. In there behind them both is James from Mundell’s Forge! Chaldaw has had his turn but chose to stay with us and didn't get too much in the way 💕

These two Grutness ponies were born in 1999 and have each had active lives - Chaldaw as Ailsa Sinclair's first riding pony, Cognax as an important brood mare in our studs and also many times a Show Champion. They are taking it easy now and enjoying their retirement 🥰

I was nearly surplus to requirements this afternoon at our Stuart Lindsay Equine Dentistry appointment! These are our super-chilled mares getting their treatment in Stuart's very capable hands, thank you Stuart! 🤩
These are Nuffy, Nita and Cognax.

The ponies were filling up yesterday, so they can hunker down for a while if they want when Storm Dave hits us. I expect however, that the weather will make no odds to them! 💕

I took a walk down through Lusetter to bring the ponies up for their silage, they were sheltering behind the d***s and hadn't heard me at the gate today. The deepest drifts that I've seen there for a long while so I was very careful where I was walking! See how well insulated against the cold the ponies are 💪🐴

Our next visit to Shetland will be 29 December.
