πŸ¦›πŸ˜ More unforgettable moments from our South African team gathering πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

Following our recent post about the team trip near Krugerberries Farm, we couldn't resist sharing some more of the incredible wildlife encounters captured during the visit.

From watching elephants moving through the bush and hippos enjoying the water, to spotting vultures sitting high in the trees overhead and even getting up close to a magnificent cheetah, these are moments that make South Africa so special.

For many members of the team, these encounters were a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a reminder of the remarkable natural environment that surrounds our farming operations.

It's not every day that a team-building trip includes some of Africa's most iconic wildlife!

Thank you to everyone who shared these fantastic photos and videos. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did. πŸ’™

Rupert Erasmus, Farm Manager at Lushof, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the farming operation, including production management, financial planning, infrastructure development, compliance, maintenance and the leadership of multiple operational teams. His role combines strategic planning with hands-on management to ensure the farm remains productive, sustainable and efficient. πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ«

Rupert has been part of the Lushof team for the past 10 years and has played an important role in supporting the growth and development of the business. Throughout that time, he has helped drive the production of high-quality organic fruit while maintaining the strong values and commitment to excellence that underpin the operation.

Growing up in Pretoria, South Africa, Rupert developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for agriculture and the people who make the industry thrive. Those early experiences helped shape a career that has allowed him to work in an industry he finds both challenging and rewarding.

Over the years, Rupert has built extensive experience in farm management, team leadership, financial oversight and operational planning. What he enjoys most about his role is working alongside dedicated people, solving complex challenges and contributing to the long-term success of the business. He believes agriculture is about far more than producing fruit. It is about people, innovation, stewardship of the land and creating opportunities for future generations.

Rupert is particularly proud to have been part of Lushof's continued growth and success over the last decade. Helping develop a business focused on producing exceptional organic fruit while supporting its people and communities has been a rewarding part of his journey.

Today, Rupert remains focused on driving operational excellence across the farm, supporting the continued growth of the business and helping ensure Lushof Fruit remains a leading producer of premium organic fruit.

Outside of work, Rupert enjoys spending time outdoors and values the balance that comes from family life and being connected to nature. His passion for agriculture extends beyond the workplace, continuing to inspire his commitment to the industry and the people within it. 🌿

πŸ’šπŸ« Gooseberry season is almost here... and it's looking HUGE!

These incredible crops are growing at Mains of Murthly in Scotland, where our grower Calum McDiarmid is preparing for what could be one of the biggest gooseberry harvests we've seen in years.

With around two weeks to go before picking starts, the bushes are absolutely loaded with fruit, and current predictions suggest the crop could exceed an incredible 50 tonnes!

As Calum puts it:

"There is an absolute monster volume of gooseberries. Hopefully we can pick fast enough!"

Seeing row after row packed with beautiful, healthy fruit is a fantastic sight and a real credit to the hard work that goes into producing these often-overlooked British berries.

Harvest countdown: ON! β³πŸ’š

Who else is looking forward to gooseberry season?
We'll all be getting our gooseberry recipes out and ready!

🫐🌱 Harvest preparations are well underway at our OchoΕΌa plantation in Poland πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±

As the blueberry season approaches, our team is busy carrying out hand weeding and mowing operations across the farm.

While these jobs may not be the most glamorous part of blueberry production, they play an important role in maintaining healthy growing conditions, improving access through the rows and ensuring the plantation is in the best possible shape ahead of harvest.

It's all part of the attention to detail that goes into producing high-quality fruit, and a great example of the hard work happening behind the scenes before the first berries are picked. πŸ’™

The fruit is looking fantastic, and we're excited to confirm that the first arrivals are expected to reach the UK this week, bringing fresh, high-quality blueberries from field to customer in just a matter of days.

A huge thank you to the team on the ground who have worked tirelessly to get us to this point. Here's to a successful harvest season ahead! πŸ’™

🫐🌱 Planting for the future at Ε»elimucha Farm, Poland πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±

Our team has been busy in the fields planting new rows of Orb blueberries, carefully positioning each plant as we continue to invest in the future of the farm.

Orb, from the Berryworld varietal programme, is a variety valued for its excellent fruit quality, attractive berry size and strong production potential, making it an exciting addition to the plantation.

Every row planted today is another step towards future harvests, and it's great to see the team making such fantastic progress.
