Just over a week and a half of funemployment.
Twelve days ago I finished my foundation training as a doctor and decided to run Copperopolis Coffee full-time, and I keep getting asked if it's living the dream. Honest answer: sometimes.
The dream bits have been real — sunrises over Clee Hill, coffee with a view out the van I still can't believe, mornings that start on a hilltop instead of a ward. But nobody shows you the 5am starts, the setup you rebuild at every market, the full days roasting in the heat, or the moment you slide back your van door to realise your entire setup has tipped over in the back of the van and your espresso machine is dangling by strapping. 😅
Thankfully it all still worked afterwards and I had a lovely Saturday at Petallica's eco market, brewing amongst the wildflowers.
That's the reality of running a micro roastery. The highs are high, the lows are on the floor of a Transit, and I wouldn't swap it for anything.
Thanks for coming along for the ride. More ups (and definitely more downs) to come.
