do my favourite pistachio kunafa chocolate bar so when I saw they had an Eid edition and a bar inspired by the viral crunch cake - I had to get both.

The crunch cake bar has a brownie and ganache filling with mini eggs and cornflakes throughout and ontop. This was a solid chocolate bar, rich but not overbearing.

The pistachio kunafa one is arguably the best one around. It is huge and they don’t skimp on the filling. It’s the perfect amount of creamy and crunchy. A guaranteed hit. They do a bueno version too which is divine!

These bars are so reasonably priced for the quality and sheer size of them. Perfect for gifts or just because! They do so many more bars and other items too, couldn’t recommend their sweet treats enough!

📍 , Maldon 🍕🍝

I’ve now been to Salt in Maldon twice in 2 months because of how good it was and I realised I haven’t done a post on them yet!

Both times we went for:
🍕 Margherita pizza
🍝 Arrabiata pasta
🧄 Cheesy garlic bread
🍟 Hand cut chips

Starting off with the pizza, I know a margherita is simple but this has to be one of the best I’ve tried as of late. The tomato base is so tasty and the cheese is delicious. It’s simple but effective!

The pasta though…this is an absolute beauty. It is saucy, spicy and just downright delicious. Mopped up with the cheesy garlic bread, it’s a must order. Had this both times and didn’t even want to share a bite - it’s that good!

The cheesy garlic bread is just divine too, not too cheesy and not too garlicky, it’s downright perfect. If you’re getting a pasta, please get this to accompany it.

The hand cut chips are also incredible! told me they were good and they were that good that on the second visit we had to get our own portion of them. They’re thick and salty - quite frankly some of the best chips I’ve had.

Overall, this is an absolutely beautiful restaurant, with the good to match. I think I am obsessed!

You’ve previously seen me rave about The Corner House after their refurb so we went for a group meal here and I have to say, this meal left a lot to be desired unfortunately!

I went for the fish and chips again because it was gorgeous the first time I had it but it was absolutely nothing like when I had had it previously🥲

The fish was burnt and the batter tasted of stale oil, the sort that burns your eyes! The fish didn’t have much flavour at all, and as opposed to being soft and flaky, it was incredibly dry. The chips were okay, but also were really oily and the portion was pretty small.

The dessert was also pretty lacklustre, I only had a scoop of ice cream but my friend had the crème brûlée. The crème brûlée had no brûlée top, wasn’t a crème brûlée at all in honesty.

In comparison to the first time I visited, this was a pretty big let down - I had raved about how good this spot was to my friends and this made me look like I had no idea about good food because we went off of my recommendation.

I had asked for multiple of the dessert options and they had almost nothing except 2 flavours of ice cream and crème brûlée, I was told that they usually had most of their options available however worth noting that the first time I visited they had the same issue - almost none of the menu was available and again I was told this was a rare occurrence and was only due to a delivery but this visit sort of confirmed that they don’t have most of the menu available a lot of the time.

Overall, this was a pretty expensive meal and I probably wouldn’t go rushing back. The service was pretty dreary and the food was even worse which is quite sad considering the experience I had the first time was the total opposite - I wrote home about how good the food and service was but unfortunately this time it was sub par at best.

Hopefully this was just a one off because it is a nice place but I think they definitely need to work on consistency and making sure more of the items are available or condensing the menu so they can have the whole menu available rather than biting off more than they can chew!

📍 🥤

I tried MilkBar’s drinks a while ago and just completely forgot to post so here is my (very) overdue post about these beauties!!

We went for:
🥭 Mango, Passionfruit and Cream Blended Cooler - £5.75
🍵 Matcha, Strawberry and White Chocolate Frappe - £6.25
🍓 Strawberries and Cream Frappe - £6.00
🍫 Double Chocolate Chip Frappe - £6.00

My favourite had to be the strawberries and cream frappe - it was so refreshing!! Strawberries and cream is one of my fav frappe flavours anyway and this was the best out of the bunch I’ve tried over the years, a subtle cream taste, mixed with that moreish taste of strawberries, what’s not to love?

The mango, passionfruit and cream cooler was also a winner, perfect combination of fruits, I’m obsessed with mango and passionfruit combos and the added cream just levelled that combination up completely! The best summer drink!

The matcha, strawberry and white chocolate was definitely an acquired taste (obviously with the matcha) but I really enjoyed this one. The three flavours worked really well together and balanced each flavour fantastically.

Finally, the double chocolate chip - this was also good but I’d say I liked it the least, not because of taste but I felt the others were just in a league of their own. This was a simple, staple frappe flavour, executed brilliantly.

Averaging at about £6 for a drink, they might seem a little pricey but I have to say I think it’s pretty reasonable given the quality and size of the drinks.

Highly recommend! They also do events, so if you’re looking for a drinks stand at your next event, make sure to check them out.

📍 🍕

Last month we took a trip to The Real Italian Pizza Company in Cardiff city centre - it’s one of those places I’ve waked past a million and one times but just not taken the time to visit and I’m not sure why!

What we had:
• Garlic bread and mozarella
• Dough sticks with garlic butter
• Classic margherita pizza
• Deeper base and thicker crust margherita

Kicking things off with the starters - both of which were very very good! The garlic bread was pillowy soft and had the right amount of garlic, going with the garlic bread topped with mozarella was definitely the right choice here. The dough sticks were also delicious, I loved the garlic butter it came with - it was addictive! I will say, you don’t need both the garlic bread and the dough sticks as I believe the dough sticks come with the same garlic butter that’s on the garlic bread.

I am a margherita girl through and through, I love a margherita pizza because it’s simple and showcases how good a place is - if their margherita is good, you know the pizza is good and they aren’t hiding behind the flavour of toppings!

We decided to go for a classic margherita and one of their deeper pan, thick crust margheritas and both exceeded my expectations. The classic was soft and very light! It had the perfect amount of sauce to cheese ratio, which I am very particular amount.

The deeper pan margherita took the edge over the classic for me though. It was so fluffy, I couldn’t get enough! I will say, this one is pretty dense so if you do go for the deeper pan option, it would be ideal for sharing because it’s so filling!

The classic margherita only sets you back £12.95 and the deep pan is a £2 surcharge. You are able to upgrade any pizza to a deep dish which is a nice touch too! The prices are pretty reasonable for the city centre and the food was absolutely fantastic, I’m a little embarrassed I’ve overlooked this place for so long!

📍 .market

Newport Market is one of the OG market spots in South Wales and it just gets better and better!

From independent food traders, to shops and interactive games - you’ve got everything you need!

We tried a few dishes from the multitude of well known and loved food traders and everything was absolutely brilliant. They have lots of halal options available, just check with the traders to see which items are halal!

I didn’t know there was interactive games room here so this was my first time popping into this and it was so fun! We ended up spending a good few hours in here playing interactive darts and shuffleboard, you couldn’t get bored! You’re also able to order food whilst you’re playing.

I have been a big fan of Newport Market since they opened and even since the last time I visited there’s been so much change!

If you’re looking for a fun day out with friends or the family, Newport market is a no brainer - good food and some fun games (just make sure you book your interactive games slot in advance!).

Afrikana is a well loved spot for all the right reasons.

We went for:
• Strawberry drip mocktail
• Island dreams mocktail
• Pulled beef loaded mac and cheese
• Cheeky Chops
• Rotisserie chicken
• Big Poppa
• Fudge it

I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal at Afrikana, and the service is always top tier - the staff enhance the experience for sure. The vibes are cute, cosy and perfect for a meal out no matter what the occasion.

Affordable yet still a levelled up experience from your standard restaurants, you can see why it is so well loved across the UK!

📍 , Barry

Goodsheds in Barry has been around for absolutely ages and it’s known for their street food and array of shops. I hadn’t been down to visit in quite some time so I had to pop by!

We tried:
• Halloumi gyros from
• Garlic bread from
• Margherita pizza from .barry

I am a huge fan of Greek food and the halloumi gyros was just what I needed. The halloumi was perfectly squeaky! The fries inside this were to die for, that seasoning was so good! (They were so good I actually got them again a few days later!).

The garlic bread was brilliant, garlicky yet not too overpowering and the cheese pull was immense - I love the cheese they use! Dipped in the garlic mayo, wow!

As a pizza lover, I’d heard a lot of good things about Rwcola’s pizza and to be fair it was pretty good. I did really enjoy it but it was just your standard pizza - I didn’t feel like it was in a league of its own but it was certainly hit the spot!

I washed everything down with a strawberry milkshake which went down a treat!

Every time I’ve been to Goodsheds it seems to pour down with rain so I haven’t managed to wander round the shops yet but I’ve heard they’ve got a load of businesses there which is pretty cool.

They also have live music and special guest days too - they’re having down there for some pottery painting a few times in the next few months which will be so much fun!

Such a great place to catch up with friends or grab a good bite to eat when you can’t pick one type of food!

Have you been to Goodsheds yet?

If you know me, you’ll know that Caribbean food is one of my favourites and I’d wanted to try Cafe Caribbean for some time so I decided to go all out and get everything I’d been craving!

I went for:
• Mutton Curry with rice and peas
• Jerk chicken with gravy
• Lamb Pattie

I don’t even know where to start - it was all absolutely fantastic.

The mutton curry had so much flavour - it was rich, spicy and comforting. It was perfect for a cold December afternoon and paired with the rice and peas, this was a combo that can’t be beaten.

The jerk chicken was also just as good. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a perfectly crispy top and tender, smoky chicken. The gravy was so good and just kicked this up a notch.

The lamb patty was obviously a winner too. The lamb was soft and the sauce it was in was just top tier.

I spent just under £20 which may seem dear for an office lunch but everything definitely hit the spot for me. Their portions are massive and reasonably priced - I would’ve paid more for the amount of food I had.

This is a solid lunch spot and I can assure you, I’ll be going back, there’s no doubt about it. If you’re stopping by in Spitalfields market, make sure you give them a go, you won’t regret it (but you may need a fat nap afterwards😂)

What would you choose?
