Busy but brilliant day in the polytunnels today 🌱☀️

Lots of lovely seedlings and seeds planted and it’s all coming along nicely – plenty of fresh veg on the way for our veg boxes! This video is of Dad having a wander through, checking everything out… I think he’s pretty pleased with how it’s looking 😊

Nothing better than a lovely warm day, a bit of hard graft, and seeing it all starting to grow! 🌱

Throwback Thursday.. 🚚

This was our first delivery vehicle, a 1960's Morris Minor called Bernard that Jonnie and F***y had restored; it also doubled as the school bus, to the children's ( now adults) horror!

It wasn’t exactly luxury… you could see the tarmac through your feet — just a wooden board with holes in between you and the road. 😅

Back then, “operations” looked a bit different: F***y driving, and Freddie (aged 10) in the passenger seat with an A–Z map, trying to figure out where on earth the next house was.

No sat nav. No apps. Just teamwork (and plenty of wrong turns).

One Christmas, we broke down in the middle of a snowstorm while out delivering. Safe to say… it wasn’t the warmest vehicle. Jonnie had to come out and rescue us.

It’s easy to see a veg box arriving at your door now — but behind it is years of early mornings, family effort, and figuring things out as we went along.

Still local. Still family-run. Just slightly warmer… and much better at finding the right houses.😀

We still have customers today who were delivered to in Bernard, thank you for your support over the years! We wouldn't be here without you. 👨‍🌾

Shop Local. Support Small. Strengthen Your Community.

In a world of convenience and big-name retailers, it’s easy to overlook the small businesses right on our doorstep. But choosing to shop local is one of the simplest — and most powerful — ways we can support our communities and shape the places we live.

Why Shopping Local Matters 🛒

Every pound spent in a local business has a ripple effect.💸

It helps to create and sustain local jobs, supporting families and livelihoods close to home. Small businesses are often major employers within their communities, offering opportunities that keep people working locally rather than having to travel further afield.

It also strengthens the local economy. Unlike large corporations, independent businesses are far more likely to spend their earnings nearby — using local suppliers, services, and trades. This keeps money circulating within the area and helps other businesses thrive too.

When you choose a small business, you’re investing in something bigger.

You’re supporting people who take pride in what they do — whether that’s a butcher preparing quality cuts, a baker starting work before dawn or your local organic farmer with seasonal produce! 🍆🥕🍄🌽

You’re also helping to maintain the character of your high street. Independent shops give towns and villages their identity, making them vibrant, welcoming places rather than rows of identical chain stores.

At its heart, shopping local is about connection.

It’s about knowing where your food comes from, recognising familiar faces, and being part of a community that supports one another.

Every time you choose a small business, you’re helping to build a stronger, more resilient local economy — one that benefits everyone. ❤️
