Because we didn't operate from fixed premises no grants were available to us during Covid. We were forced to sell the business to get through lockdown... to someone who did get a government grant!

Gutted wasnt the word!!!

However we never stopped talking about it and once everything opened back up we started saving hard to do it all over again.

We bought a trailer in late 2022, had an Italian oven made and got to work mounting it, making the units fitting it all together decorating it and making it our own. We rewrapped it in our logo. This time we knew exactly what to do to make it better and more efficient than before.

Our realms of 5 star reviews and socials had all gone so we had to start from scratch building back up. That's why we're so grateful when you share our business and leave us reviews..

but soon we were back out doing what we do best making fresh woodfired pizzas 🍕 🍕 🍕

To continue our story in 2016/17 we traded at Digbeth Dining Club in Birmingham few times. The night street food scene was really on the up but only really happening in the big cities.

What a shame there wasn't anything like that near us that we could trade at. So we decided to approach the local council and see if we could set something up ourselves giving us and other newish street food traders and bars a place to show case and bring some much needed trade to the town centre.

I took my personal licence, went on a huge steep event-planning learning curve, filled out thousands of forms and in 2018 we launched Street Treats & Beats Street Treats and Beats (Originally called Street Eats & Beats) in St Editha's Square Tamworth

Our first night we debuted amongst others The Patty Freaks Wat Wok Artisan Pizza Co British Bus Bar Salty Dogg many of whom it was their first gig. We found a friend of a friend to DJ and went from there.

Within 18 months we had collabed with other councils and were running successful events in Tamworth town centre, Ashby town, Wigginton Rugby Club, Nuneaton town centre and Bedworth 💃 We worked with scores of traders and made some really good friends along the way. Meanwhile we were both working our usual jobs in the week and doing private events at the weekends 🍕 🍕 🍕

Its all sounds great doesnt it....😅

Hi to our new followers..we thought we'd do a few posts to introduce ourselves and show you where we started our journey. We are Adam and Abbey and we started as just a foodie couple. Simply passionate about good food and great ingredients.

Unknown fact 11 years ago we built a unit it was actually our horse trailer for our horses!!! As far as we are aware we were the second people to ever put a woodfired oven into a horsebox in the uk it was a weird concept!!!

In another lifetime Adam was a horse riding instructor and I'm an equine therapist of 20 odd years.

We've both always been pretty handy and Adam has been a fabricator welder for many years now so we painstakingly converted our trailer into a pizzeria every night after work once the kids were in bed.

It was months of hard graft, learning what was needed by trial and error, fitting refitting and meeting standards by environment health so we were authentic but still safe.

Finally we moved onto making, remaking then refining the perfect woodfired pizzas tested on our ever patient supportive and brutally honest family and friends some of who sadly aren't with us anymore. But we have amazing memories of fun parties and get togethers trialling every step we took.

We had many highs and many lows over the next few years, learned some huge lessons, got better and better then launched into private events and finally weddings where we found our niche. We met some amazing people along the way. Even Dizzy Rascal and Jonny Marr (The Smiths) bought pizza from us!!!!

MONTHLY CLAY OVEN REFURB COMPLETE!!!!

It might sound obvious but...
Stone baked is not woodfired
Using gas is not woodfired
Using an Ooni or similar is not woodfired
Your local pizza shop is not woodfired

Wood fired pizza is a whole different beast. Having an authentic clay pizza or tandoor oven with a stone floor requires constant maintenance.

Not only does it flavour the dough, the flames that lick over the dome allow the cheese to melt and the edges to crisp. The hot stone simultaneously cooks from the bottom.up.

You need a good chef who can launch cook turn pizza and manage the temperature of a woodfired oven with pieces of a wood on a minute by minute basis.
