Chapati is one of those everyday staples in our home.

Today’s pairing is tawa paneer bhuna masala.

Unlike many everyday curries, a bhuna masala uses yogurt as one of its key ingredients, giving the sauce its rich, creamy texture alongside onions, tomatoes, peppers and aromatic spices.

One of the things I love most about chapati is its versatility. Pair it with paneer, vegetables, chicken, lamb or dal, and you have a completely different meal every time.

Simple home cooking, full of flavour, and always enjoyed around our table. ❤️

Soft idlis and homemade chicken curry.

Made from naturally fermented batter, idlis are light, satisfying and pair beautifully with a good curry. This chicken curry works just as well with idli, dosa, chapati or rice.

A breakfast, lunch or dinner that is always enjoyed at home. ❤️

One of my favourite days of the year.

Yesterday was spent cooking with a group of Year 8 students. We made vegetable kurma and chicken kurma, explored spices, learned new skills, asked lots of questions and worked through a few kitchen challenges along the way.

What I enjoy most is seeing their curiosity. Watching young people try new flavours, build confidence and discover that cooking is a skill they can carry with them for life is always rewarding.

It was a busy day, full of questions, laughter and plenty of enthusiasm.

Days like this remind me why I love teaching. ❤️

18 ❤️

It’s been a joy watching you grow into the young man you are today.

Kind, thoughtful, compassionate, and very much your own person.

You’ve appeared in my stories, conversations, talks, and occasionally as the reason behind some of my biggest life decisions.

What you may not know is how much of who I am today has been shaped by being your mum.

Happy Birthday, Arya ❤️

And now that you’re officially an adult, you can make all your own decisions...

I’ll still be here quietly offering unsolicited advice 😉😄

After all, your mum is usually right

June arrived before I realised the first five months had already passed.

Somewhere between routines, responsibilities, conversations, family, work and simply trying to keep life moving, here we are already.

Lately, I’ve been thinking through a tennis analogy.

A person can be brilliant at singles. Independent. Strong. Capable.

But doubles is a completely different game.

You cannot keep playing doubles as though you are still alone on the court.

It asks for awareness. Communication. Adjustment. Understanding the person standing beside you. Knowing when to step forward, when to support and sometimes when to let the other person take the shot.

And perhaps life is a bit like that too.

Relationships change. Friendships evolve. Children grow. People come and go. Some stay. Some return. Some teach us things we never expected to learn.

The older I get, the more I realise life doesn’t only teach us through big moments. Most lessons arrive quietly through everyday interactions, difficult conversations, mistakes, joy and the people around us.

Five months in, I’m not sure life becomes easier.

But maybe we become a little more aware, a little more curious and a little more honest with ourselves.

And perhaps that is growth too.

What have the first five months of this year taught you?

Leftovers don’t always mean boring. Sometimes they create the most nourishing plates.

A little rice with ghee in the middle, surrounded by what was already in the kitchen — fenugreek leaves and lentil kootu, bitter gourd poriyal/thokku, kosambari salad, beans and carrot poriyal, kollu thogayal, and a few everyday additions that quietly bring together fibre, protein, vitamins and minerals.

No fancy plating. No perfectly planned meal prep. Just real food, variety on a plate, and using what we already have.

Because sometimes nourishment looks less like perfection and more like balance. ❤️

Two Sunday lunches.
Same house. Very different personalities on a plate 😄

One side: chicken biryani, fish fry, egg and raita.

My side: cooling thair sadam with beetroot poriyal, cabbage poriyal, crispy raw banana fry and homemade mango pickle.

Honestly, give me yogurt rice and pickle, and I’m a very happy person.

Indian home food has a beautiful way of making both indulgence and nourishment sit happily at the same table.
