10 years ago, w**emaker Angelo Maci made a pledge to save some of Puglia’s most ancient, precious vines. The century-old vineyard was about to be uprooted, but Angelo saw something no one else could in the low-yielding Negroamaro and Primitivo planted there, and proved it by making Il Brutto, a magnificently rich red.

The vines’ twisted trunks may be ugly (‘brutto’) to outsiders, but they’re things of beauty to those in the know. And now Angelo has celebrated a decade of that beauty with Il Brutto Anniversario is a luxurious red w**e that’s packed with dark, spiced fruit.
