The wildflower field is absolutely bursting with colour right now, and our sweetest strawberry variety is ripe and ready to pick. It doesn't get much better than this.

This year we have several fields of glorious wildflowers ready from June right through to August – different flowers blooming at different times all summer long 🌻🌼 And the best bit? There is something truly special about walking through a field of wildflowers – and this summer at Spilmans we have several fields of them, with different blooms coming into their own from June right through to August 🌸🌼 Cornflowers, native annuals and more, each field telling a different story as the season unfolds.

Not everything we find on the farm is what we expected 🐣 Earlier this season Tom spotted a blackbird had made her nest in one of our pumpkin crates and of course, we left her well alone. A few weeks on and look at those little ones thriving 🖤

Then just recently, an oystercatcher decided our asparagus field was the perfect spot to raise a family 🐦 She's been cordoned off and left in complete peace, she's not going anywhere and neither are we.

This is what farming looks like. The crops can wait.

Chef Darren is back in the kitchen and the seasonal café menu at Spilmans is absolutely delivering this summer. From beautiful brunch dishes to hearty lunch plates, fresh salads and homemade treats – everything is made with care and packed with flavour. And yes, there's dessert 🍰
