We have our final Falconry sessions for August tomorrow (Monday 31st August). It's forecasting a day around 19C and a chance of a shower so an ideal day to come down for a 2 hour session of Falconry and visit to our Back To Nature Field. You might spot our wild kestrel or buzzards or our mummy pheasant with babies, or our weasel family if you are lucky.

Please wear footwear and clothing suitable for the ground and weather conditions. The ground may be a little slippery where it is damp and it is uneven in places.

There are gazebos in the field for shade/shelter and a portaloo for visitors use. Plenty of parking available.

Sessions at 12 noon, 2.15 and 4.30pm. To secure a place call or message 07960 014981 (Carol) or email: [email protected].

** Latest news from Cinder Hill **

The pigs are happy and wallowing away in their mud - they are also enjoying a fresh bale of straw in their pen.

The Khaki Campbell ducks are getting a lovely new coat of darker brown feathers. We are hoping the duck egg production will pick up following this as they are currently only on around 50% egg production!

The ponies are looking beautiful in the paddock. A nice young lady has been coming and grooming them and trying a bit of ground work with them. We are still having to give them hay as there is no grass.

Most of our events are doing really well and bookings continue to come in. We will be working on the September/October event poster later today so keep your eyes peeled for the new sessions including exotic animal handling experiences in conjunction with Lords Exotics Encounters. We are trying to keep sessions affordable and available for people to experience with the current tough conditions and people struggling to make ends meet.

Spotted in our Back To Nature Field recently include a Mummy Pheasant and at least 6 little stripey babies, a weasel and baby, kestrel regularly hunting, 2 pairs of buzzards, a red kite, shrew, mice and plenty of birds coming for the seeds including goldfinches, sparrows and t**s.

The chickens are good but we still need to try and get their egg production levels to rise. We have had another 15 new chickens which are starting to lay from Joe at New Cottage Poultry and we are hopeful to get another 60 birds in the next month. Work on Hensington Palace is nearly complete so the new chickens will have a large area to settle into before they are let out to free range after about 3 weeks.

We have a small renegade batch of around 6 black chickens which are currently residing on top of Chuckingham Palace at nighttime instead of going into the run to be safe from foxes. We call this gang the 'dirty stop outs!'.

Our Caravan and Motorhome Club Certificated Location field has been going well with a steady stream of bookings this year, a couple of nights of full pitches and our first returning customers. Nice to see lots of the visitors using local businesses such as The George and Dragon and Ruby's chip shop.

The year is racing on and we can't believe we will be at September shortly. The nights are drawing in and there is a real Autumn feel in the air. We look forward to meeting some more of you at our events before we start to slow down ready for the winter.

We are in the process of making a large bug hotel in our Back To Nature Field. Every session we run in the field our guests are invited to add something onto the Hotel to say they have been a part of it! We are now on the scrounge for more bits we could use for the bug hotel including (but not limited to) shepherd's hooks (that come with solar lights and get thrown to the back of the garage or garden shed), empty pipes of different sizes, garden canes (the sort with a hole running through for bees and spiders to use ), small bits of old carpet, old rotted wood bits, pine cones, etc.

If you have any of these things or anything else that you think would be good to make a big bug hotel than please drop them down to us - we would be very grateful and we are all for recycling!
