Yesterday's spots in the Back To Nature Field included some firsts! Some black caterpillars on the nettles which we have narrowed down could become peacock, tortoiseshell or red admiral butterflies. A toad hiding under the log stump seats. A cricket on the paw of the fox figure if you zoom in sitting on its paw. Also spotted was a kestrel hunting (hovering over the field) and a red kite flew overhead.

Tonight's view from the Back To Nature Field whilst I'm mowing the paths, so that more eager nature spotters will be able to come, over the weekend and further into June, and enjoy spotting the wildlife and painting stones in the hopefully better weather that we are expecting. Contact us on Facebook, WhatsApp, messenger or email to book a session.

There's lots of grasses for birds and insects to hide at the moment. There's still some blue phacelia that the bees 🐝 love and also daisies, poppies and cornflower for the 🦋 butterflies. Well behaved children and dogs 🐕 on leads allowed. We also have a portaloo for emergencies - bring a picnic, drinks and a blanket to really enjoy your session.

After a day of rain, thunder, cloud, sunshine and showers we have been pleased to welcome quite a few members of Ashby Camera Club to our farm this evening who seemed to be happy wandering around taking photos of the pigs, ducks, chickens, machinery, us, horses and flowers in the Back to Nature Field. We're looking forward to seeing some of the results in a few weeks time. Thanks to Martincookephotography for organising.

Had a really lovely Sunday out with our stall selling plants and hanging baskets - nice to chat to the visitors and villagers at Osgathorpe Open Gardens. It was the first stall we have put together but we had a practice putting up the new gazebo on our front lawn the day before. Thanks to all the villagers for making us feel very welcome! A lovely opportunity to get what we are about out there.

Sunday I will be doing a stall set up in Brookside Farmhouse with hanging baskets, pots, veg and tomato plants, bedding plants and shrubs. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

The ponies are looking lovely now they have shed their winter coats. Penny and Daisy have lovely shiny dappled bay coats and Rumour has white/black patches and they are all managing to stay fairly clean for a change. The rain showers are helping to get the grass growing for them at last.

We're loving this time of year! It feels like there's lots going on on the farm and it really feels like it comes to life now.

The grass was mown a couple of days ago and has now been picked up and wrapped in black plastic as sileage bales to be stored as winter food. The dogs were loving their morning walk across the field this morning to count the bales.

The CAMC Field has had a couple of visitors this week enjoying the lovely weather and fantastic sunsets and also a free session in the Back To Nature Field as part of the pitch price.

The Back To Nature Field is still looking nice but forever changing . The red clover has gone over now but there are lots of daisies coming out so it has more of a blue and white tinge to it. We had visitors this week in the sunset slot who were 3 ladies meeting up and enjoying a drink around the picnic table. They have left us fab reviews which we thank them very much for - they said it made a nice change to meeting up in a pub or coffee shop. We've seen the kestrel up there hunting quite a few times and there is a pair of partridges wandering about. It would be lovely if they could make a nest in there somewhere.

Plenty of plants for sale at the produce shed including various tomato 🍅, broad beans, cabbages and leeks. £1 per plant or 6 for £5

There is an offer on individual bedding plants £1.50 each or 4 for £5 and the stock includes French and English marigolds, Bidens gold (trailing), geranium (bush and trailing), pansies, nepeta (trailing), petunias, begonias, busy lizzies, calibroacha, lobelia, etc

Sunflower plants are coming along now and are on at £2 each. If you are lucky some pots have 2 plants in! Different varieties available including pro cut peach, tall timbers and teddy bears.

Come down, say hello and have a browse. We prefer cash or bank transfer but we can also now take card (internet dependent and if we are around).
