Dinner time for the girls!! Whilst they’re all cosy in the barn over winter we feed the cows hay and silage which was made over summer. They then get hard to work converting it to delicious milk!!

TUESDAY DELIVERIES!!!

Unfortunately due to the cold weather we have had no water today on the farm. This means there will be no milk deliveries this evening, 6th January.

Apologies for any inconvenience - hopefully pipes will thaw tomorrow.

Christmas Deliveries!!!

Monday-Thursday

Fletching, Danehill, Plumpton, Wivelsfield, Haywards Heath, Lindfield and Cuckfield.

Deliveries will be Monday and Friday.

Tuesday-Friday

Nutley, Uckfield, Barcombe and Newick.

Deliveries will be Tuesday and Saturday.

This is the same for next week too.

Support our local independent dairies!

With milk production hitting the headlines of late we thought it timely to let our customers know a little more about where we source our milk.

We support two local dairies, buying milk and ice cream from Downsview Farm in Ringmer (just 3miles from the Farm Shop) and full fat milk from Over the Moo in Sheffield Park, Fletching - just 8 miles away.

We asked Richard of Over the Moo to tell us a little more about how he produces his milk.

Richard explained he runs a small herd of Ayrshire cows, chosen because they are a hardy breed that produce milk with good protein and fat levels.

His cows graze on pasture that is fertilized only with organic fertilizer (slurry) and usually remain outside until mid November. This is several weeks longer than many other dairy breeds, due to the hardy nature of the breed. When they come in for the winter they are fed on maize and silage grown on the farm. Richard confirmed the additive Boevar is not fed to his cows.

Richard milks his cows and delivers the milk himself in their rather gorgeous glass bottles!
