Invited: Four courses, four Ch*****ne pairings and plenty to savour at Ye Olde Bell.

We’re looking back at the Telmont Ch*****ne evening at Restaurant 1650 in Barnby Moor, where oysters, pan-seared scallops and butter-poached chicken led the way to a lemon tart finale.

The scallops were a particular treat, while the chicken’s tarragon and wild mushroom sauce worked beautifully with the accompanying rosé Ch*****ne. Thoughtful pairings and attentive service made this an evening worth revisiting.

Invited: A spa bath, homemade shortbread and Saturn’s rings — this Northumberland stay had plenty to get excited about!

Our spacious lodge at Battlesteads Hotel and Restaurant in Wark offered a huge comfortable bed and its own terrace, but the hotel’s Dark Sky Observatory delivered the biggest thrill.

After our tasting-menu dinner, we wrapped up warm to explore the night sky. We saw the Moon in incredible detail, spotted Saturn’s rings and even held pieces of lunar and Martian rock!

A restful night and a hearty breakfast completed a memorable stay.

Sunday brunch at Lucy’s Café & Bistro!

Plenty of tempting choices on the menu today, including Spanish shakshuka with chorizo, loaded hash browns topped with scrambled eggs and crispy chorizo, a traditional cooked breakfast and poached eggs with bacon and mushrooms.

We even managed to squeeze in some American pancakes topped with Nutella and strawberries, all accompanied by a couple of lovely coffees!

Are you more of a traditional full English breakfast person, or do you prefer something a little different?

Quite a feast at Meet & Meat in Boston tonight!

The star of the table was the enormous sharing platter for four, packed with charcoal-grilled chicken and lamb, Adana köfte, chicken wings and plenty more, served with rice and salad.

We also tucked into salt and pepper calamari, beetroot hummus and finished with baklava, ice cream and pistachio sauce.

Add in the striking interior, with its chandeliers, plush seating and illuminated bar, and it’s certainly somewhere that makes an impression.

Somewhere new for dinner tonight!

We’ve arrived at Meet & Meat in Boston, a Turkish restaurant and steakhouse, and what a striking interior!

Looking forward to seeing what the food has to offer.

Invited: A little less shopping, a lot more ramen! Our final lunch before heading home from the North East took us to Maki & Ramen at Metrocentre, Gateshead.

Fresh Rainbow Rolls, delicate chicken gyoza and sticky, spicy chicken teriyaki got us started, before two seriously generous bowls of ramen arrived.

Steak Tataki and Black Garlic Tonkotsu brought rich broths, perfectly cooked noodles and plenty of flavour. Add striking blossom-filled décor, friendly service and impressive value, and we were heading home very happy indeed.

Invited: A hearty dinner at The Lindisfarne Inn in Beal, Northumberland.

After a busy day exploring, we were ready for a cosy booth and some proper comfort food!

Sticky Korean chicken brought a real chilli kick, while crispy pork belly bites came coated in a sweet, savoury hoisin glaze. Both were delicious, and we played nicely and shared!

For mains, I tucked into a bubbling venison and pork lasagne, with garlic bread for mopping up that rich sauce. His Nibs tackled a loaded Reuben burger with two Aberdeen Angus patties, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, pickles and seasoned fries. Neither of us left hungry!

Friendly service, generous portions and a welcome for dogs too made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
