I am a local Derbyshire bird, who along with her family and friends likes to spread her wings and get her beak sticky sampling food, wine and beer in local restaurants and venues. Hopefully having good times and discovering hidden treasures in our glorious neighbourhood along the way. I'm not particularly snobby about fancy food or surroundings; I just like a place to be clean, friendly, have atmosphere and be able to do a decent job of cooking the food that is their trade.

🍽️ We don't normally get involved in campaigns, but this one directly affects the hospitality businesses we spend our time supporting.

With nearly 200,000 signatures and growing, the VAT's The Problem campaign is calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.

Many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and hotels we know are backing it, so we've taken a look at why.

🔥 Have you tried The Hide's Rodizio Night yet? 🔥

We first shared news of these Brazilian-inspired smokehouse evenings back in April, and they're now well underway every Thursday throughout June.

Expect unlimited servings of smokehouse meats carved tableside, including brisket, picanha, honey-chipotle pork belly, smoked chicken and more, alongside salads, sides and desserts.

We're finally heading over this Thursday to give it a try for ourselves, so watch this space for photos and our thoughts afterwards! 🍖👀

A fantastic afternoon at Lagan Indian Tapas in Findern today. 🍽️

The concept may be Indian tapas, but there’s nothing small about the flavours. From the Chicken Tacos, Gobi Manchurian and Amritsari Fish to the superb Murgh Mewar and Malabar King Prawns, every dish we tried was beautifully presented, packed with flavour and cooked exceptionally well.

Combined with the stylish interior, waterside setting and welcoming atmosphere, it’s easy to see why this place has been attracting so much attention.

We’ll save the finer details for the full review, but it’s safe to say we’ve left very impressed indeed.

🇳🇴☕ First stop in Haugesund this morning was Naturbakst, a traditional Norwegian bakery and café right in the heart of town.

The plan was to sample some of the pastries, but after a week of eating our way around the Norwegian Fjords we were still far too full! Instead, we settled for a couple of hot chocolates and enjoyed watching the bakers at work behind the scenes as fresh bread and pastries emerged from the ovens.

A lovely local spot and a great way to start our final port day before Queen Anne turns for home.

A cosy coffee stop in the heart of Ålesund 🇳🇴☕

Taking a break from exploring the town centre, we called into Racoon Coffee for a hot chocolate and a pot of tea. Set within one of Ålesund’s beautiful Art Nouveau buildings, it’s a lovely spot to relax, recharge and watch the world go by.

Great drinks, a welcoming atmosphere and a perfect little pause during our day ashore.

Afternoon from Skjolden 🇳🇴

The weather may be a little grey, but the scenery is still spectacular. Low cloud hanging over the mountains, mirror-like water in the fjord and Queen Anne sitting right at the head of it all.

A lovely afternoon exploring one of Norway’s most beautiful villages.
