SUNBATHING HENS

I had the shock of my life this morning, dashing around the corner and saw three dead hens. Phew!!! They weren’t dead at all - just flat out sunbathing. Their heads popped up as they heard me and I got this lovely photo of them.
From back to front, they are Trixie, Sister Monica Joan and Lavender.

This was an interview about Avian Flu. It hit all poultry farmers hard when we had to put all our birds into lockdown. It’s especially rotten for those who are used to being free range. We complied with the DEFRA regulations strictly.
DEFRA randomly selected poultry farms for an inspection and Middletown Farm Geese & Hens was selected. We welcomed the DEFRA officials with open arms and were very willing to work with them to get rid of this horrible disease.
Avian flu is about in Britain now. We are all praying it does not spread enough to warrant another lockdown.

Whoops!! Busted!! The geese know they are not allowed on the patio. One is hiding behind the well.
