In Monmouthshire we are proud to have amazing rural communities throughout the county to celebrate alongside our stunning landscapes and traditional market towns.

A wonderful example of this was recognised when The Halfway at Tal-y-Coed, a 17th century coaching inn, won the Local Community Award at the annual Wales Food and Drink Awards. The award is for Welsh businesses that have made a real difference to their local community, and anyone who has visited the Halfway will know how well earned the award is.

They are passionate about supporting their local rural community and so set up a community hub and village shop. It’s a place that sells local produce, hosts workshops and activities to bring people together, and has a great programme of events from pub quizzes and live music to pop up kitchens and more.

The Halfway is nestled 'halfway' along the old road between the historic market towns of Abergavenny and Monmouth. If you plan to visit this authentic rural Monmouthshire pub, why not combine your trip with a visit to the nearby White Castle, a walk along the Offa’s D**e Path, or the popular Three Castles Walk?

We first attended the awards way back at the start of our journey with the Ideas2Innovation cohort, so to be on the actual shortlist this year (as a now fully operational business) is sooo exciting!

Looking forward to a team night out in June! 🥰

Earlier this month, we celebrated our Entertainment Feast in Bangor and our Public Speaking Festival at the Royal Welsh Showground — but did you spot our special 90th year water cans? 👀

Filled with Soleau Water, we’re incredibly proud to have teamed up with Tumptonics for this fantastic collaboration. It’s even more special knowing that Mark Williams, a past chair of Wales YFC, is now Operations Manager at Tumptonics, and our current Vice Chair, Dominic Hampson Smith, is also part of the team.
