How it all started… 🐔

Here’s 12-year-old Sam with his brother Toby in one of the chicken paddocks.

Sam started with just four chickens as a birthday present when he was eight years old. Unlike most childhood hobbies, this one stuck and quickly became Sam’s “thing” on the farm.

Over the years, the flock gradually grew, along with the number of chicken houses. What began with four hens has developed into something far bigger than Sam would ever have imagined.

Fast forward to today, and we now have a lot more chickens (still in small, natural group sizes)— a journey that started with one young boy and a handful of chickens. 🚜🐓

Update 13.6.26- all of our hens available for rehoming have now been reserved, we have a cancellation list for any last minute cancellations and no shows, so if you have missed out please still send us a message and we might be able to help.

📣 **Hen Rehoming Announcement** 📣

The time has come for some of our lovely hens to move on to new homes, and they are now available to **reserve for collection on 4th July 2026**.

🐔 Hens are **18 months old**
💷 **£5 per hen** (payment to be made on collection day)

Pet homes only please. Please ensure you have suitable facilities before committing to rehoming.

⚠️ **All hens must be reserved before the collection date.**
Collection instructions will be sent out one week beforehand.

If you’d like to give some of our girls a new home, please get in touch by message on WhatsApp.

We do only have a limited number available, once they have been reserved we won’t have any more until the next scheduled date.

Did you know that when our hens reach retirement age, we never send them for processing (unlike the fate of most supermarket egg producing hens)?

Instead, we carefully rehome them to loving homes where they can enjoy a well-deserved retirement. After providing us with fresh eggs, we believe they deserve the chance to live out their days scratching, exploring, and being cared for.

We believe the chickens have a great life with us and it doesn’t end when they reach a certain age.

All small eggs have now been sold- Thankyou everyone! We will have some more small eggs on FRIDAY 12/6/26 but egg shack remains open for the bigger eggs at normal prices.

You may have seen the recent headlines about white eggs and carbon emissions.

While there are lots of views on the subject, our focus remains on producing quality, sustainable, low food miles eggs and that’s why we’ll be sticking with brown eggs for now.

Supporting local producers means fresher food, a stronger local economy and a shorter journey from farm to plate.

We’re really sorry if you visited the egg shack today, to find there were no eggs left…we restock every morning and today we have sold a lot more eggs than usual and we ran empty.

That’s a lot of miles (and time) for some eggs to travel🥚

Our eggs are packed here on the farm by Sam and then delivered 🚐 straight to our stockists — cutting out extra journeys, extra handling, and unnecessary food miles.
