It's finally cool enough in the Shroomery for these Blue Oysters to retain their colour 🥳 Fun Fact: Unlike many other oyster mushroom varieties, blue oysters thrive in cooler tempe , and growing them in colder conditions actually makes their blue tint much darker.
The wondrous owners of Five A Day are back from their holibobs tomorrow so these chaps will be making a comeback in our Mixed Mushies boxes this weekend!

Hey Folks!

I've had a lot of messages re ID of mushrooms people have been finding. I am loving the increased interest in foraging and now is the best time to get into it!
Over the next few weeks I'm going to be writing some blog posts on fungi I consider easy to identify, along with some recommendations for my favourite books etc.

Bees are now considered endangered. 🐝 But this isn’t just about bees. It’s about the collapse of the ecosystem around us.

Bees and other pollinators are disappearing. A third of British wild bees and hoverflies are in decline, while habitats are being destroyed and pesticides are putting further pressure on insects.

And when the pollinators go, the consequences ripple outward. Plants. Food. Birds. Soil. The whole, entire, interconnected web of life.

We can't keep treating nature as an infinite resource and then act surprised when it starts running out.

🌱 Protect the pollinators. Protect biodiversity. Protect the food system we all depend on.

If you want to do something, Greenpeace is currently asking people to take action to protect bees and other pollinators:

The UK’s pollinator numbers are dropping heavily - we need the UK government to step in and protect them.

More fungi finds from the other day. Labeled for info 🍄 the dehydrator has been working hard this week! Will be adding the inat. If you're out and about and spot anything, make sure you join and upload it to our inat project.
I'll be on there later and will go through and try and identify your finds - make sure you get a photo of the gills and take note of the surrounding area. We don't pick shame here 😘

A few foraging finds from the other day. I've been learning focus stacking which has been super fun!
I've put edible/no eat on each of the images but please remember to use your common sense and not go off these photos when ID'ing fungi. There are often many factors to consider when ID'ing a mushroom for food. Get a good coupley mushroom books and join Facebook groups to learn 🍄
