Tomorrow, Wednesday 12 August, a partial solar eclipse will be seen across the UK and Europe since 1999 with the next significant solar eclipse happening in 2050.

There may be a shortage on eclipse glasses, but we’re never short on reasons to raise a glass!

Happy Father’s Day!

Today we celebrate Gary, Nick and Bryan and the role they each play in the Mousehall family.

Mousehall is built on family, hard work, and passion- whether that’s in the vineyard, the distillery, or during an event. Gary, Nick and Bryan are a real part of that day-to-day life and energy, helping shape the experiences, hospitality, and spirit that make Mousehall what it is. From early starts to long days, and everything in between, thank you for the consistency, care, and good humour you bring.

We know the Mousehall men love a braai, so we’re sure they’ll be gathered around the fire later with delicious food on the fire, good company and plenty of well-earned drinks.

🏅 PLATINUM | Decanter World Wine Awards 2026

We are incredibly proud to announce that our Tidebrook Staddle Stone Chardonnay 2023 has been awarded a Platinum Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2026.

This year’s competition brought together nearly 17,000 wines, judged by 245 wine experts. Platinum medals were awarded to just 1.18% of entries, placing our Chardonnay among the highest-scoring wines in the world.

Even more remarkably:

“The first Sussex still wine to receive Platinum.”

As Decanter noted:

“While Sussex, recognised for top-quality sparkling, joined the Platinum category with a still wine for the first time to Tidebrook, Staddle Stone Chardonnay 2023.”

Tasting notes: An exquisite synchronicity of lush lemon curd and succulent stone fruit underscored by the cool climate tension of chalky minerals. Racy acidity ripples through the sheen of creamy oak complexity and garnishes the long finish.

This recognition is a proud moment not only for Mousehall, but for Sussex and English still wine.

Pinot Gris has a history going back to medieval times.

Known as the Grey Monk (gris = grey in French), the variety is an ancient pink-grey mutation of Pinot Noir, originating in Burgundy. Cistercian Monks spread these vines and their
viticultural practices throughout Europe in the Middle Ages.
