Ten years ago, on this very day,
At the farm we stood and gave our hearts away.
With family and friends all gathered near,
We toasted years gone by and a future bright and clear.
Little did we know what lay ahead,
The twists and turns, the roads we’d tread.
Friends would come and some would go,
Life would change more than we’d ever know.
We sold a business, left secure jobs behind,
Chased crazy dreams that only made sense in our minds.
“We’ll be farmers!” we laughed, with youthful cheer,
Then coordinators, restaurateurs, and pubs appeared.
We had a plan, a sensible one at that,
Two dogs, nice cars, and a life where we’d relax.
Holidays abroad, plenty of peace and quiet too,
A calm old age was the dream we drew.
But somewhere along the winding way,
Life smiled and gently led us astray.
Not one, not two, but three little souls arrived,
And suddenly our hearts had never felt so alive.
The greatest work we’ve ever done,
Greater than any field ploughed under autumn sun.
Our children, our family, our reason, our pride,
The best part of every step we’ve taken side by side.
We’ve never chosen the easy road to take,
Always the harder path for our family’s sake.
A little unconventional, a little wild and free,
But always building the life we believed it could be.
There were moments of laughter, moments of fear,
Challenges that tested us year after year.
Yet through every triumph, every storm we’d weather,
One thing stayed constant—we faced it together.
And now as we stand at this ten-year mark,
With memories that glow like lights in the dark,
I look at you, Lucy, and still see the girl I knew,
The one I fell for then, the one I’d still choose.
You were always my princess, that’s certainly true,
Though the title’s been upgraded, long overdue!
Because our family agrees, and I think they’re right,
You’re our Queen now, wearing your crown so bright.
You are my world, my happiness, my home,
The one beside me through all that we’ve known.
And if the first ten years have been this grand,
I can’t wait to see what comes hand in hand.
Here’s to the next ten years and many more beyond,
More adventures, more laughter, our ever-growing bond.
For whatever the future may choose to bring,
I’d choose you again—every day, for everything.
