Busy old day today. Spent an hour in the honey room prepping for Hay Cider Festival and I'm really pleased with this new shark candle even if it was a total faff to make😁

Then spent the rest of the day broiling in my bee suit checking the bees and adding supers and extra space, very glad I didn't do it on Tuesday in 34° heat🥵

Come and find me tomorrow in the Square in Hay-on-Wye 10-6 with all the fantastic cider/perry makers, I promise not to be squiffy, I have to drive home 🤣 ( probably with a few bottles🤫)

Well you can mainly find me in Hay this week! Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the Cheese Market for Fair on the Square, Wednesday in the Butter Market with Art & Soul Craft Markets and Saturday in the Square in my own gazebo for the Cider Festival!

Every other day in between I will broiling in my bee suit wrangling the bees during swarm season 🥵

Extra long day for me tomorrow because I'm taking the youngest to see Tim Minchin Hay Festival too!

Extremely frustrated beekeeper here! The weather here so far this Spring has been bright and sunny (when it's not raining) but absolutely freezing! It needs to be at least 15°c to open up a colony without causing more harm than good🤦‍♀️

I've only managed to get into my hives a handful of times so I can guarantee the next weather window will be a market day for me and my bees will be in full swarm mode!

So, to try and calm the frustration, I have been working on some hand painted tote bags for you to carry your goodies away while I wonder why beekeeping is a good idea 🫤

Looking forward to this event in June, I'll be bringing all my honey, candles, balms, skincare and also our puppy Callahan to take part in the dog show.

Come along and support a fantastic charity 😁

⚠️⛔️ As a charity we have decided to move our open day to an alternative venue to protect our equines from the possible risk of visitors bringing in equine influenza on clothes and footwear. The new venue is Myddfai Community Hall & Visitor Centre.

Myfanwy here:

"The humans have been working hard preparing for open day (7th June), so I wanted to remind everyone to come along!
You will get to meet all the ponies here, including me (I love a fuss!). There will also be a dog show, a demo from Lowes Horse Training, a pizza truck, trade stalls and much more!
It's £5 per car. Come and enjoy!"
