Yesterday we took two of our shearling ewes to Cirencester Market for our Show and Breed Sale. It was a scorching hot day but Voyce Pullin had made good provision for the extreme conditions and all the sheep were penned in the relative cool of the main building. We knew it was going to be a difficult day, with the current drought and lack of grass, combined with soaring energy costs making winter feeding looking ever more expensive - this was not a great time to be selling stock! However, I am delighted to say that our Queenford ewes did very well with Queenford Una making £450 having been made Breed Champion - while Queenford Udelia made an amazing £480. Overall however, it was a challenging day with some good sheep going home unsold and prices fetched by others, disappointing.
I guess we are all wondering what the weather next year is going to throw at us....!
