Simmons Scratchings G Simmons & Sons Pork Scratchings company is based in Walsall, just off Green Lane. Available in stores such as Asda, and also open to the general public.

G Simmons and Sons has been established for over 40 years beginning with Graham, and later joined by his sons Shaun and Mark. The business started out as a butchers shop which manufactured much of its produce at the back of the shop. These included sausage, burgers, black pudding, faggots, cooked meats and of course pork scratchings. In fact, over 30 years ago G Simmons and Sons were being recogni

sed for the quality of their pork scratchings when they came second in a competition, beaten only by a producer who bought their scratchings from G Simmons and Sons and had them packed in his own name. The butcher shop was eventually closed and pork scratchings were produced at the back of the shop full time. In 1994 following new regulation from Brussels, G Simmons And Sons was relocated to Walsall where a new purpose built unit was built with the sole purpose of producing pork scratchings. It was one of the first food manufacturers in Walsall to receive an EEC food licence meaning they could not only supply to the UK but also export anywhere in Europe. It was soon apparent that the unit was not big enough to cope with demand and so they purchased the unit next door and eventually expanded into the room above the ground floor adding mezzanine floors to both units. Today the brand is recognised through out the Midlands and beyond, but they do not only supply their own brand but also pack their scratchings for other companies in their brand name, so who knows you may have already eaten their famous Pork Scratchings and not realised, other than thinking ‘mmm those were excellent’.

We’re working incredibly hard to reopen in the autumn, but at the moment there are no official dates just yet. As soon as we have them, you’ll be the first to know.

We can’t wait to share some pictures of our new cooking site with you all, it’s looking amazing, and we’re so excited to be almost there!

Thank you all so much for your continued support, patience and kindness throughout this journey. Our customers really are the best, and we can’t wait to be back doing what we love for you all. ❤️

Just to answer a few of the questions we’ve been getting asked recently:

📍 The Shop
Our shop will remain exactly where it has always been. When we’re ready to reopen, we’ll let you all know. Our opening days and hours will be the same as they were before the fire, and Lisa & Lynsey will be back ready to welcome and serve you all.

Please keep an eye on our page and wait for official confirmation before making a special trip.

🏭 Our New Cooking Site
Our cooking operation is moving into a different unit, but it remains on the same estate. As before, this site is not open to the public. The only part of our business open to customers is our shop at Unit 2.

📦 Our Original Unit
Our old unit will eventually be rebuilt and will become our packing and warehouse facility. Again, just like before, this area will not be open to the public.

📅 Reopening Date
At the moment, we still don’t have a confirmed reopening date. We’re working incredibly hard behind the scenes and are aiming for Autumn, but we’ll only announce dates once everything is confirmed.

As soon as we know, you’ll know! 🙌🏻

When we’re back up and running, our shop will reopen and our online website will go live again too.

One thing we should add… the photo we used on our previous post is actually an old one! 😅

Sorry if we got your hopes up and had you thinking there were bags of Scratchings flying around already!

In fact, we don’t think there’s a single bag of our 180g Scratchings left anywhere in the world at the minute! 🤯

If you do happen to find one tucked away somewhere, get it on eBay — you’ll probably be quids in! 😂

The good news is it won’t be too long before there are thousands of them flying off the shelves again. 🙌🏻

Good morning everyone ☀️

Just a little update from us as we continue working hard behind the scenes to get everything ready.

We genuinely can’t wait to start sharing photos and videos of the progress being made at our new cooking site. There’s been plenty happening, and we’re looking forward to showing you all what we’ve been working on.

Another exciting step forward is happening next week, as we’re due to take delivery of our additional packing machines. This is a huge milestone for us, as it means that as soon as we’re back in production, we’ll have everything in place and ready to pack and distribute our products to you lovely lot as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Every week brings us closer, and whilst we still can’t give an exact date just yet, please know that we’re doing everything we can to get back up and running.

Thank you all for your continued patience, support and kind messages. They really do mean the world to us, and we can’t wait to be back producing the finest Pork Scratchings, Crackling & Crunch for you all ❤️

Great progress on site this week! 💪

Our packing unit is now fully in place and the machine is set up — we’re ready to get things moving! This marks a big step forward for us and a really positive milestone in the overall project.

The cook site is still a work in progress, but things are coming together steadily. We’ll continue to keep everyone updated as we move through the next stages.

Packing Update…

We’re pleased to share that we have successfully secured a unit where all packing operations will take place. While this will be a temporary arrangement, it marks an important step forward and represents great progress for the team.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have such a fantastic team behind us, working hard to get everything prepared and ready in the new packing unit.

We’ll continue to share further updates on both the packing and cooking units as things progress.

We’re so happy to share some exciting news… work has officially started at Unit 4! 🎉

After the devastating fire in December and having to pause trading, it feels amazing to finally be moving forward. This unit will become our new cooking site, and it’s the first big step towards getting your favourite pork scratchings back in your hands.

Thank you so much for all the support, patience and messages — it really has kept us going ❤️
