Busy busy here at TOB, much of this is for orders going out tomorrow and I have just finished pulling out the ovens the fruits of Ivor’s labours this morning. Some specially ordered quiche (always happy to do any flavour we can) some large pies and two person pies as well.

We have also got chocolate and coffee and walnut cakes going off tomorrow for birthdays. 🎂

The rest are traybakes for topping and cutting - carrot cake, a double load of pear walnut and ginger and of course brownies. Oh and 10kg of Somerset Pork nurdling away and smelling divine 😍

Phew - must get on, aqua aerobics tonight followed by an AGM for a local club I volunteer for. Never a dull moment 😬.

Back to the meatier pies now for the cooler months, today we have a beef and vegetable in a rich gravy slicing pie available.

Tomorrow we will be making a small amount of the 2 person steak and kidney pies, so get your order in if you want one.

For me today, lots of requests for soup, having sold out of our first batches of Leek & Potato and Roasted Root Veg. We have run out of Somerset Pork in the ready meal freezer too so that’s on the list along with a frittata 😉 best get cracking.

🍂 Hello Autumn! 🍂

Well, that was a properly wet and windy walk to work this morning! 🌧️💨 And judging by the start we’ve had to the week, autumn has most definitely arrived.

We have been VERY busy in the kitchen already — just look at this lot! 😍 Freshly baked and now all waiting to be portioned up for the counter. We’ll be going through every knife, chopping board and available inch of worktop shortly 😂

A bread pudding that’s currently too hot to handle, Quiches, pies, frittatas, tarts and plenty more homemade goodies are coming out of the kitchen - exactly the sort of food you want when the weather turns a bit grim outside. 🥧🍂

And if you’re waiting for your bread, today’s fresh bread delivery arrives around 12 noon 🥖

So, raincoat on, hood up and come and see us — we’ve got the comfort food covered! ❤️

Well these are a bit different! 🥜

New on the shelves from New Zealand 🇳🇿 — Forty Thieves.

They started out making nut butter in a blender on Auckland’s Hibiscus Coast and have grown into a brilliant little award winning brand, and we couldn’t resist some of the flavours.

We have one our our scrummy handmade Hunters Chicken Pie out just now. Delicious rich pastry, perfectly crimped by Ivor, chicken and ham bound in a cheese sauce topped with BBQ sauce and more cheese 😬. Because you can never have enough cheese.

Biscoff and Strawberry &white chocolate cheesecakes out and I will making some mini tiramisu for the afternoon.

Loving this autumn weather so we are still bashing out the quiches for alfresco lunch and dinner, although the dressing gown and slippers have reemerged 😘

Happy Friiiiiiiyahhhhhhhh. I hope you are all looking forward to the weekend - and judging by the amount of cake we have sold this week - I think there’s been a fair amount of consoling or just a tea with friends.

Oh hello Monday - not sure what the rush was, but lovely to see you AGAIN 😂

We’ve just hooked some Pastel de Nata out the oven, freshly baked, still warm - who doesn’t love a light flaky Portuguese Tart to get Monday on the way as a heart lifting elevensie - you can even have a delicious topping added to yours.

Ivor and I will be off and running in our usual Monday race to get things created, cooked and baked.

I know we have allegedly another heat wave impending but today felt like a day to kick off soup making, so the first had to be chunky leek and potato - that’s my tea sorted! I might need another week to contemplate bringing the toasted sarnie maker down - but we’ve had a few requests and they will be sour dough toasties available too. Soup and a sour dough toastie - does it honestly get any better?

I’ve also made some fruit crumbles which are just on their way out, and some fresh cauli cheeses as it’s defiantly a comfort food weekend.

What makes our carrot cake so special? 🥕

Well, obviously we use real carrots… so technically that’s one of your five-a-day.

We’re fairly sure that’s how it works. 😂

But we reckon the best bit is the topping — plenty of our special recipe delicious topping, finished with one of those little chocolate carrots on every slice.
