A very big thank you to my Waterbeach village customers and beyond.
As a small business in Waterbeach, just turning 5 years old, I want to thank every customer who's supported me in any way throughout this year.
Whether you bought a hanging basket in May, early asparagus and new potatoes, tasty veg in season weekly or by veg box delivery, or a Christmas wreath.
This year has been the best yet for Beach Blooms.
I've almost reached a seasonal living wage!
I'm somewhere in my life I couldn't see happening when I first started out. Redundant in my 50's after covid, and unsure how to move forward and take care of my family.
Hard work, encouragement and support from a very helpful and wise farmer, David Smart, and a kind and supportive friend, Andrew Judd.
Probably most of all, personal commitment to put in up to 7 days a week for 9 months of the year.
Especially in a year of dry weather.
I've come a long way on this journey of growing, and I've learnt so much. I haven't always been able to believe in myself, but finally I do feel proud.
I've drawn on my upbringing, and I've pushed through some personal hardships to keep on growing on the land gifted down through my family.
Please, if you can, keep supporting all the local small independent businesses that try to give you choices without air miles.
Grown local, and not flown in, is the way to continue forward.
If you still need a wreath, I'm taking orders up to 18th December. Limited veg will be available on Saturday morning, 20th December. First come, first served!
After that I will close for some family time until the spring.
