All our Rams that will be forward are already BlueTongue vaccinated and will be semen tested prior to the sale.

❗🐑IMPORTANT BLUETONGUE UPDATE – MEMBERS & BREEDERS, PLEASE READ ❗🐑

Following a committee meeting last night, a decision has been made to postpone the Breed Sale to Saturday 17th October at Clitheroe Auction Mart and to cancel Holme Show this year.

We hope the additional time before the Breed Sale will give vendors more opportunity to obtain the bluetongue vaccine and, where they wish to do so, have their rams’ semen tested.

Vaccination and semen testing are not compulsory prior to the sale, but both are recommended, particularly for those selling sheep from areas affected by bluetongue.

We are very sorry to have to cancel Holme Show this year. It is a great opportunity for members and breeders to get together, but given the current bluetongue situation, we feel the risk of disease transmission is too great and we do not want to contribute to the spread of the disease.

Thank you for your understanding — it’s certainly one of those years.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Breed Sale on Saturday 17th October.

The Cowpe Valley Galloways coming down off the hill for their yearly bolus and worming before turning the bull out with them in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to seeing what the new stock bull ‘Cardona Hercules’ produces. He was bought for 6000gns this spring from the Castle Douglas Society Sale.
