OVERSEAS WATCH
As winter is on it's way, we are back with the ever popular feature where we keep tabs on many of our former players as their season's begin in the Southern Hemisphere.
We'll start with Jason, who was recently named Top Tournament Batter including a 58*, as his club Bedfordview won their T20 Competition over in Johannesburg. We'll be keeping a close eye on you, young man.
Staying in South Africa, but moving to Cape Town - Coach Dyson masterminded a 5 run victory for WPCC against Belville. We can only presume his lads followed his tactics to the letter. Sadly, Derek seems to have retired following the birth of his first child. We probably should congratulate him on said achievement, but if its ended his cricket career then we'll reserve judgement.
Hayden made his return to cricket following a series of devasting injuries - such as a broken shoelace and a pulled heartstring. He tells us he now bowls off spin, but the game "went downhill quickly" and they got "pumped". Nice work Biff.
Changing countries, Lachy made 21 for Hawkesbury over in Sydney in another victory for the lads over Fairfield-Liverpool.
Rig continued his decent early season form with 28 against Southport. So that's Liverpool and Southport that our lads are beating Down Under - we can only presume they'll be playing Oldham and Rochdale next week.
Staying in Australia, which apparently is where half our former players are saw Jayden have a bye week. He probably needed it after his fourth ball duck last week, but we won't mention that.
Not forgetting the quiet, unassuming Brad who is still in Perth playing for the wonderfully named White Knights Baldivis. In fact he's lucky, as there seems to have been no game on Australian Play Cricket. He played in a friendly last week scoring 20 odd or so - and we presume he bowled a few wides.
The last Aussie check in is with one of our own - young Sam Drury. The not so young Sam is still allowed to exist in Australia - Micaiah must be doing some serious admin so his dodgy visa doesn't run out. Anyway, Sam scored a run a ball 42 before getting caught and bowled. He says he's too old and won't be playing cricket for much longer. We believe you.
Last and most certainly not least, we're travelling round the other side of the globe to the USA, where Gayan is playing for Los Angeles Lashings. His most recent game was a fortnight ago, but he produced figures of 5/27 in a T20 against San Diego Surfriders. Top work big man!
Think that's it, couldn't find Fordy so presume he's retired like his mate Barney. Can't find anything for Damo either, but that's probably for the best.
