Important Notice

Due to the high winds brought by Storm Austen, our Open Farm will be closed on Saturday 24th October 2024 to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff.

Our Halloween event will now begin on Sunday 25th October. We look forward to welcoming you for some Halloween fun.

All other departments will remain open as usual: the Farm Shop, Tearoom, Gift Shop and C***r Barn.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

🎃 HALF-PRICE HALLOWEEN FUN AT MIDDLE FARM! 🎃

Get those Halloween costumes ready!
From 24th October to 1st November, children aged 3–16 can enjoy HALF-PRICE entry to the Open Farm when they arrive in fancy dress!

Whether they’re little witches, or cute pumpkins, we can’t wait to see your Halloween outfits - Remember its fun, not frights, at the Open Farm!

Offer applies to tickets purchased at the gate only.
Fancy dress must be worn on arrival to qualify for the offer.

Join us for Pumpkin Painting in the Pumpkin Barn this Halloween Half Term:

With two timed sessions to choose from – you can decide when you want to get creative!

How does Pumpkin Painting work?
Pay for your pumpkin at the Gift Shop at any point during your visit, so there’s no need to decide as soon as you arrive.
You’ll be given one wristband for each pumpkin you purchase.
When you’re ready to paint, simply head down to the Pumpkin Barn and hand your wristband to the member of staff.

One wristband = one pumpkin.
Then it’s time to start painting!

If you’re starting to plan your Christmas cheeseboard, our friendly team will be on hand to offer advice and help you find the perfect selection.
From 11am.

Saturday 31 October
Celebrate apple harvest season with us at Middle Farm, with apple-pressing demonstrations, tastings, homemade treats, Live music from The Unkempt, and plenty more!

Enjoy a taste of our apple-making traditions, from c***r making to mulled c***r and homemade apple juice.

Pop-up BBQ with Head Butcher Doug – serving gourmet hotdogs with a choice of Jumbo Pork, Jumbo Pork and Apple or Jumbo Venison and Mulled C***r sausages with sides.
Serving from 11am.

Bus and Bug VW Coffee Van will be joining us on site serving up warming hot drinks including autumn specials.

Join us on the main site from 10am.

Meet Dennis, our handsome new pedigree British Saddleback pig!

Dennis has joined us on the Open Farm from the West Country and is a rather special arrival.
British Saddlebacks are a native breed, created in 1967 by combining the Essex and Wessex Saddleback breeds. They are easy to spot thanks to their black coats, large lop ears and the broad white 'saddle' that wraps around their shoulders and front legs.

Now that he has completed his isolation period, Dennis is settling into his new home with Molly in Poultry Field. British Saddlebacks are known for being hardy, docile and well suited to outdoor life, while the sows are excellent mothers.

The breed is currently classed as At Risk, so every pedigree piglet is especially important - and we are hoping Molly and Dennis might welcome the patter of tiny trotters in the new year!

We’re calling creative minds of all ages to take part in our Great Scarecrow Competition!

Entry is completely FREE, and each participant who submits a scarecrow under the theme of Farm Yard – will receive one FREE admission to the Open Farm.

Scarecrows can be dropped off at our Gift Shop from Saturday 19th September 2026. They must be over a metre tall and delivered by Thursday 22nd October 2026.

Winners for the best scarecrows will be picked from three categories:
Best in Show
Best Under 16’s entry
Most Unique

Prizes to be won include a Group Ticket to the Open Farm, a Farm Shop Hamper, and a Tea and Cake voucher for use in our Tearoom.

Competition winners will be announced and contacted by email on Thursday 5th November 2026.

Scarecrows will be displayed around the Open Farm over the Halloween Half Term. You are welcome to collect your Scarecrow from Monday 2nd November 2026.
