This child has had things a little tough and due to his journey so far didn’t believe he was “good enough” He has been with me for 3 months and yesterday this happened…….

He was sub and I called him over, I said this is your turn to have a go, he got his kit smartened up and ready to play. I said “up front” He said “why” I said “it’s your turn you go get em, and if you get that chance be calm and shoot”

He scored
Made his mum cry
Made us all cry
Lads sang his name

At just five years old, this man went into social care. He would be moved around 13 different homes. At 12 years old, he lost his mum to a he**in overdose. His father wasn't around. At 16, he was kicked out of school after years in and out, "making trouble". He learned everything he knows about acting from nature documentaries of all places, fascinated by how animals can "say so much without saying anything". He got his first acting job after answering an ad he saw in a shop window. Now, against all odds, aged 30, he's made it and been nominated for an Oscar for his excellent performance in The Banshees of Inisherin. Barry Keoghan, everyone. 👏
