Seasonal Game Processing Role – Yorkshire

We’re a small, family-run business buying, selling and preparing high-quality Yorkshire game, and we’re looking for someone to join our team for the upcoming winter season, September–February.

The role will involve:

* Grading and preparing wild game
* Defeathering and processing game
* Packing and general work within our processing unit
* Working as part of a small, busy family team

Working hours:
Sunday–Friday, generally 7am–3pm, although some afternoons may run a little later when required.

Experience:
No previous experience is necessary. Full training will be provided. We’re looking for someone with a good work ethic, can-do attitude and the ability to work well as part of a small team.

Pay will be dependent on experience and how quickly you progress through training, with opportunities to increase your rate as you become competent across the various tasks.

The position is initially seasonal, but there may be an opportunity for a full-time position for the right person.

We would also consider someone wanting to work on a self-employed basis.

Another fantastic day out on the North Pennine moors.

It takes a huge team of people behind the scenes to make these days possible, and we’re incredibly grateful to every single one of them. Whether you’re a be**er, flanker, loader, picker, driver, caterer, waiting staff, the list goes on! Your hard work and commitment are hugely appreciated.

There’s a real buzz throughout our rural communities when grouse numbers are strong. It’s not only about bringing people together and creating a fantastic atmosphere, but also the significant economic benefit these days bring to the local area.

After a shoot day, the pubs are full, the chippy is busy, local businesses benefit, and the whole community feels the positive impact. It really is fantastic to see.

A huge thank you to everyone who plays their part in making these days happen. Your contribution makes a massive difference to our rural communities.

No rest for the wicked after some gruelling days on the moors the keepers are back at it today

Estates are putting over £1.06 million directly into local people’s pockets and they’re supporting a huge network of local businesses too.

Our figure focused specifically on payments to be**ers, flankers and picking-up teams. But once you add catering, waiting staff, lodge staff, drivers, loaders, hospitality businesses and other local services, the true economic contribution is likely to be 5x that figure or more.

This is just one estate collecting pies for shoot day staff, with another 15 days still to go!

The question is simple: what could realistically replace this level of income and support in our rural communities?

Well what a few days it has been, a massive thank you to the teams of keepers, be**ers and dog Northern Pennines Moorland Group, our staff, our customers. The crazy weather we are experiencing doesn’t make it easy to be able to harvest this sustainable surplus at the beginning of the season. We have hopefully made sure most customers with pre orders have had something to start the glorious game season we have ahead. Roll on some cooler weather next week.
