Hi Tumbledown friends, so what have we been up to, lots, it’s that time of year and we’re planting spuds, carrots, leeks, onions and plenty more and we’ve been doing lots of digging to plant more. Our tree nursery has been completely and we’ve planted over 950 trees in and around the nursery, our flower beds have been built and we’re just about to start sowing flower seeds and our resident mechanic is fixing the small tractor, again. There’s always plenty to do at Tumbledown and if you want to join us come on down on a Monday and a Friday from 10 o’clock and remember there’s always tea and biscuits for everyone, cheers

Morning Tumbledown friends, a few projects on the go this week, we finished off the tree nursery with new raised beds and planting areas, we’d been given a few pallets which we’re taking apart to recycle the wood and from the wood we’ve made a screen to be used on the seafront to hide the big green waste bins. For info, there’s no volunteering this week as Alan is away, we will be back Monday 16th Feb with tea and a biscuit for all, cheers.

Hello Tumbledown friends, we’re busy setting up our new tree nursery, we have to make it deer proof, they love to eat all the new trees and bushes we plant, not what we really want. We’re also setting up a crafting group on a Friday morning to make stuff to sell at the monthly markets we will be hold once a month at Radipole, I will let you know the dates and hopefully you can come along and say hello, remember volunteering every Monday and Friday, tea and biscuits for all, cheers.

Evening Tumbledown friends, there will be no volunteering tomorrow, Friday 23rd Jan at the farm, as Alan is away.

When we were there this week we built our own Eden Project domes, this is to cover our soft fruit growing, Heath Robinson would have been proud of our work.

Like everyone we had lots of rain and the slops, drainage and ponds we built were put to the test, we did survive, just.

And on Saturday we had a joint Sasaling event with the Friends of Radipole Gardens, at Radipole, it didn’t rain and we blessed the apple trees for a huge harvest this year.

Next week will be volunteering as usual with tea and biscuits for all, cheers.

Afternoon Tumbledown’s friends, we had a quiet start to the new year, only a few of us made it in and we built a new raised bed behind the small car park next to the Kestrel barn, we will fill it with rosemary. We have our Wassailng this Saturday at Radipole if you want to join us. Everyone is welcome to volunteer on a Monday & Friday, 10 o’clock start and there’s always tea and biscuits for all, cheers.

Hi Tumbledown friends.

Just to confirm that the Autumn food themed event will go ahead tomorrow with suitably autumnal weather. The forecast is for gusty winds so we will not be able to use the forest school due to safety concerns. We will, however, reroute the autumn trail and lash down the gazebos so that we can welcome people tomorrow morning.

Booking for the pizza making session will be made on the day. To keep things safe in the kitchen we have an age limit of over 8 and there is a small charge of £1 per pizza to cover costs. Pumpkin carving will be held in the workshop and there will be a charge of £2 per pumpkin to take away.

Parking will be limited as we will not be able to park in the field, so if possible please walk, cycle or park in Southill (not on Radipole Lane outside the site please) and climb up that lovely hill!

Have your picture taken with the pumpkins.

See you tomorrow in your wellies, cheers.

Hi Tumbledown friends, so it’s been a while and what have we been up to, well yes, we’ve been weeding, we always do, but we’ve also been building stuff, growing stuff, making stuff and someone has been brewing stuff. We were give a big shed which we’ve dismantled and rebuilt, we picked some apples and made apple juice, but not for adults, with our chilies and toms we made chilly jam, (you can buy some if you want) and the hops we grew were given to a local brewery and they made a green beer. There will be lots more weekly posts keeping you up to date with all our shenanigans. There’s always tea and biscuits for every volunteer, so come along and have some fun, cheers.
