A new chapter for Rookery Farm 🌱🐄
We’re transitioning towards regenerative farming — focusing on healthier soil, stronger grass, happier cattle, and a more sustainable future for the land we work every day.

Looking forward to another fantastic event hosted by The Hartley 🥳

Looking forward to another fantastic event hosted by The Hartley 🥳

Just a reminder for Saturday -

🍔Food will be served from 2pm -8:30pm.
🍺There will be an outdoor bar serving everything other than cask ale. Plenty of cask ale inside.
💳It is card only on the outside bar.
🪑We’ve ordered a load of extra benches to try and get as many as we can seated. We’ve got rentals coming as well. You are welcome to bring any camping chairs or anything with you if you wish.

A plea from us -

🚙The car park will be closed, an alternative option will be sign posted. Please use the car parking provided kindly by the Foxall Family Rookery Farm and don’t use the kerbs through the village. Tractors couldnt pass through the village last year and we had complaints that residents were struggling to get in and out. If we have complaints again it could threaten us being able to hold these events in future under our licence.

Spot the odd one out 👀🐄

Freddie tucked in amongst the herd, completely at home with his favourite girls 💚

Moments like this say everything about how we farm. From day one, our cattle are handled with care, patience, and constant human interaction. It’s why they’re calm, curious, and happy to share their space- making it safer and easier for us to look after them properly 👌

For us, it’s not just about farming - it’s about building relationships & knowing the personality of each animal ☺️
When animals feel secure, they thrive, and that’s something we’re incredibly proud of 🐮 💓 Our cattle really are part of the family!

The Foxall children are already cow-mad and determined to be part of the future here 👩🏼‍🌾 🧑🏼‍🌾

No matter the challenges that come our way, we know the farm is in passionate, caring hands for generations to come 🫶🏼🤩🌱🐮🚜

We just wanted to take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send messages, write letters, and show their support for our recent planning application 💚

We have been absolutely blown away by the kindness, encouragement, and genuine interest in what we’re trying to achieve here. It means more to us than we can put into words. 🫶🏼

For those who may not have seen, our proposal is about so much more than just development. It’s about supporting our village community now and for generations to come — with plans for:

🏡• Affordable homes for local people trying to get onto the housing ladder or downsize

🏩• An assisted living care home to help older residents stay close to loved ones

🚸• Safer, improved pedestrian access to the sports & social club and canal

🏥• A purpose-built doctors surgery with parking - if deemed necessary by planners

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒• Ongoing support for our schools, local businesses, and community groups

At its heart, this is also about securing the future of our family farm — allowing us to continue farming here, as we have proudly done for over 100 years. 👩🏼‍🌾👨🏻‍🌾🐮🌱

We know not everyone shares the same view, and we respect that. But what we want to emphasise is our commitment to doing this the right way — with low-density building, plenty of green space, and a real focus on being “greener than green.” If homes need to be built, let’s do it in the kindest, most thoughtful way for our environment and our community — while bringing meaningful benefits for everyone. ✅

To those who have supported us already — thank you. You’ve given us real strength and determination. 🍀

If you would like to show your support, we would love to hear from you. Please message us directly and we’ll get in touch. If you’re sending a letter, don’t forget to include your name, address, and signature.
Together, we can help shape something positive for our village 💚

This week also brought the arrival of our first calf of the year — a special moment for us, and a reminder of why securing the future of our farm means so much. 🐮 🇬🇧

As many of you will be aware, we have submitted development plans (26/00063/OUTM) for the field between the canal & the Sports and Social Club. Please follow the link to view the full range of supporting documents. See the 'Design and Access Statement' - pages 22 & 28 for the two proposed master plans.

Rather than leaving everyone speculating, we wanted to share a bit more about what’s being proposed and why.

We know development of any kind raises concerns. As a family who have lived and worked in Wheaton Aston for 7 generations, we’ve spent a long time thinking about what would be right for the village, not just how many houses can be squeezed onto a field.

The proposal isn’t just about new homes, it also includes community improvements that will make a real difference locally:

✅ New doctors’ surgery - with proper parking and access, helping reduce pressure on existing facilities and unnecessary travel to Brewood.

✅ New care home – allowing older residents to remain in the village close to family, and helping free up existing family homes for the next generation of local households.

✅ New employment - positions for up to 50 new local jobs.

✅ Mixture of homes - full range of starter homes (suitable for first time buyers), self build plots, and affordable housing. Aiming to be built with as many environmentally friendly options as possible. Not just large executive homes for maximum profit.

✅ New walking routes and public open land - linking the canal, cricket club, village and wider countryside.

For our family it will support the long term viability of the farm and help ensure we remain as a local employer.

It’s important to us that this isn’t about maximising the number of houses. On a site this size, a typical housing scheme could mean upwards of 90 homes. Instead, we’re proposing around 45, with over half of the land remaining undeveloped green open space.

There is a national housing shortage. With South Staffs being around 80% Green Belt, the planners are under pressure to approve development in villages like ours on non-green belt land. This is an opportunity to create a positive enhancement to our village.

Our hope is that where development does happen, it can be done in a way that adds something positive for the community as a whole, a goal we believe this scheme delivers.

Please support our Charlotte and Rhys!

🐾Have we lost the plot? 🐶

So… we’ve gone and done it. We’ve just started SCOOPS – a dog p**p clearing service in Wheaton Aston & nearby villages! 💩

Yes, it sounds a bit mad. But honestly, who loves scooping dog poo? Nobody. So we thought… why not get paid to do the job nobody wants to do and help our dog-owning neighbours at the same time?

Rhys was fed up with the 9-5 grind and hours of commuting, so he decided to put his people skills and love of dogs to good use – scooping p**p and making life easier for local dog owners! 🥳

He is CRB, DBS and enhanced DBS certified so you're in safe hands!

So if you know anyone tired of dodging landmines in their garden… send them our way! 🐕

🐩 SCOOPS – we do the dirty work, so you don’t have to! 🐾

Please share!

🌾 Harvest 2025 – All Wrapped Up 🌾

That’s a wrap on combining for this year on our family farm. Yields are down, so it hasn’t been the best year for farming, but as always, we’re grateful to have the harvest in the shed.

A big thank you to everyone locally for your patience when meeting our combine on the roads – we know it can be a squeeze sometimes! 🚜

Freddie & Monty, our very eager “next generation” farmers are already keen to jump in and get involved. The future of our farm is looking bright, even if the crop yields weren’t. 🌱

Here’s to better seasons ahead! 💛
