My sole remaining hen has just recovered from a sour crop. About 2 days ago she showed a large crop, which was obviously liquid as it was squishy. When I massaged it, she vomited it all out: it was very smelly…🫤. So I asked Google and was told, I may need to do that a few times and not feed her, which I did although she was free to roam. Last night she didn’t return to the coop, so I brought her back and emptied her crop again. I was sure she would be no more this morning but here she was full of beans.

I am getting ready for a CUB (7 to 10 yrs olds scouts) evening walk at Avalon Eco Farm. I have planned the itinerary: various fields showing different aspects of the farm, interesting facts and bits of information; Margaret Stanway - an experienced girl guide leader - laid out an explicit health and safety sheet after we walked the course together. I still need to put some pictures together on my iPad about the various animals, who came to graze here in the last 2 yrs or were in need of help and we will be all set to go!
