🚨 STYAL MILL FISHERY & HIGHLAND CATTLE UPDATE 🚨

Well… after years of finding the occasional beer can, crisp packet and lost fishing rig, today was a first.

Whilst checking the Highland cattle field on the fishery land next to the infamous Styal Doggers Layby, we discovered a giant pink rubber fist lying in the grass.

Now, we’ve got anglers catching some strange things out of the lake, but finding one in a cow field wasn’t what we expected.

The Highland cattle were understandably confused.

One thought it was a salt lick.
One tried to avoid eye contact.
And the Fergus the bull has spent the afternoon staring at passing cars wondering where society went wrong.

For anyone visiting the layby:

🎣 The fishery is catch and release.
🐄 The cattle are look but don’t touch.
🩷 Giant pink rubber fists are definitely take home with you.

Please remember this is a working fishery and grazing land. We don’t care what legal activities adults get up to elsewhere, but if you’re bringing equipment that looks like it belongs in a Marvel film, please make sure it leaves with you.

The fish have seen enough.
The cows have seen too much.
And the farmer now has questions he never expected to ask.

If you’ve lost a giant pink rubber fist, it’s currently in the running for “Most Unusual Item Ever Found at Styal Mill Fishery” and that’s saying something.

P.S. If one of the anglers reports catching a 30lb mirror carp with a suspiciously pink rig attachment this week, we’re closing the lake. 🤣

Archie’s been kept busy by the stockies this weekend! 🎣

No monsters hitting the bank just yet, but a fish is a fish and they’ve certainly kept the rods bending. After being in the lake for 2 years, it’s fair to say this one’s enjoying the food ! At 6Lb 11oz 😆

Plenty of action, plenty of bites, and a happy angler. That’s what fishing is all about. 👌🐟

And before anyone asks… no, Archie hasn’t been to a trendy barber at that time of night. That isn’t a modern haircut he’s showing off — it’s pure, unfiltered bed head! 😂💇‍♂️

👻 This one hasn’t shown its face for quite a while… which is probably why they call them Ghost Carp!

A cracking catch by George at Styal Mill Fishery with this stunning 12lb 3oz Ghosty. After keeping a low profile for months, it finally slipped up and found the bait!

Well done George – a fish that doesn’t make many appearances and certainly worth the wait. 🎣🐟

A huge well done to Bobby, aged just 12, who smashed his personal best with this cracking mirror carp weighing 19lb 9oz
Some anglers spend years chasing a PB like this… Bobby’s making it look easy! 😆

Keep it up, Bobby – the 20-pounder is definitely looking over its shoulder now! 💪🎣

We asked for advice on bridge width for getting barrows across…

Most people said “about 1.2m is plenty.”

So naturally we ignored everyone, emptied half the yard, and built a bridge wide enough to land a Chinook helicopter on. 😂

On the plus side:
✅ Barrows fit easily
✅ Two anglers can pass each other without awkward eye contact
✅ Probably strong enough for a tank

Best bit is it cost us absolutely nothing in materials — just a few days of “that’ll come in handy one day” finally paying off. 👌

🚨🥊 BREAKING NEWS FROM Styal Mill Fishery 🥊🚨

Absolute scenes this afternoon after reports came in that HAmISH the young bull had allegedly arranged a “straightener” round the back of the JCB for 2pm sharp.

By the time I arrived the fight was already underway… and let me tell you, this was NOT some overhyped Friday night PPV with weeks of Tyson Fury style press conferences and smack talk.

No ring walk.
No security.
No weigh in.
No DAZN subscription needed.

HAmISH just came in full send. 😳

Windmilling anything within a 10-foot radius with those horns like a furry helicopter of violence. There was definitely a touch of small bull syndrome involved… but fair play to the lad, he stood his ground and absolutely backed himself.

Witnesses say one highland reconsidered his entire life choices halfway through the second charge.

After a short but chaotic contest, the judges scorecards were unanimous…

🏆 HAmISH is now officially the undisputed Styal Mill Heavyweight Champion of the Field. 🏆

Security for next week’s rematch will consist of one electric fence and Jack shouting “OI!” from a distance. 😂

🚧 Bit of angler guidance needed 🎣

Our new water has an island with 4 pegs that’ll be connected by a wooden bridge. We need to keep the bridge as narrow as possible , but easy to get barrows across 😅

So… what would you say is the minimum acceptable bridge width to comfortably get your fishing barrows over .
