Yesterday we had Erin having a sneaky go… and obviously she couldn’t keep her mouth shut about how good the fishing is! 🤦‍♂️😂

So today Peggy the Highland has decided she’s having a go herself! 🐮🎣

She’s watched the anglers, studied the tactics and is now convinced she’s got what it takes to land one of the carp! 😂

At this rate we’re going to have to start charging the Highland cattle a day ticket! 🐮💷🎣

Imagine sitting there, rods out, waiting patiently for that big Styal Mill carp…

Then you hear a little rustling behind you. 👀

You turn around and there’s a Highland cow standing about 6 inches away, silently judging your fishing technique. 😂🐮

No mooing.
No warning.
Just a big hairy face staring into your soul. 🤣

Pretty sure he was waiting for the angler to catch one so he could claim it as his dinner! 🐮🎣

Hope the Highlands didn’t wake the anglers too early this morning! 🐮

Fergus and the gang clearly missed the memo that some of our guests enjoy a lie-in. Nothing quite says “good morning” at Styal Mill Fishery like a Highland cow announcing breakfast time!

One of only TWO Grass Carp stocked in the lake, making it a very special catch indeed. Not something you see on the bank every day!

🚨 Early hours excitement at Styal Mill Fishery! 🚨

We had a call from one of our anglers in the small hours reporting what sounded like a crash. After a quick patrol up the lane, we came across an overturned vehicle with two young drivers looking rather sheepish.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt and everyone walked away unscathed. The only casualties appear to be the driver’s pride and any hopes of keeping this one quiet from their mates! 😳

Meanwhile, our anglers remained focused on the important things in life… wondering if the commotion had spooked the fish. 🎣

A reminder to take care on the country lanes around Styal, especially at night. They’re a lot less forgiving than a missed bite alarm!

Glad everyone is safe and well. 👍
