Wimborne Wine Society How about the Wimborne W**e Society? We meet first Wednesday of every month. The Society meets the first Wednesday of each month. And don’t worry.

The saying goes ‘Life is too short to drink bad w**e’ but if you don’t know your Bordeaux from your Beaujolais or your Chablis from your Chardonnay, where do you start? This friendly group of w**e lovers welcomes new members to its monthly meetings at Dorset Community Action's "CLaRC" (Community Learning and Resource Centre) at King Street in Wimborne. Members can enjoy a w**e tasting and a presentation, often delivered by a visiting expert from local vineyards or w**e shops. There are no w**e snobs to intimidate you or any pressure to buy the w**es. We like to offer an opportunity for anyone to come and learn more about the pleasures of w**e. More experienced w**e-tasters in our Society are always delighted to share their knowledge. Member are encouraged to bring along their own nibbles to enjoy while sampling the vintages. The Wimborne W**e Society began life in 1967 as a W**e Circle when 13 local w**emakers came together to share their knowledge with each other about w**e- making techniques. Home w**e-making became less popular and many W**e Circles lost membership and closed down. With this in mind the Wimborne W**e Society was born in October 2003, aiming to enable members to enjoy and learn about commercial w**es in a relaxed and informal way. And we’re still going strong and a raising a glass or two or three! The Society also arranges social events such as a summer picnic, Christmas party and skittles evenings.

Here are our dates for our upcoming tastings for July and August. Please let us know over the phone or in store if you'd like to book in!

There are only two spaces left on our Ch*****ne night, so book quickly to avoid disappointment! We're also planning a New Zealand themed tasting with a variety of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs as well as a number of other offerings from New Zealand such as Central Otago unoaked Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We have also decided to delay our Wh***ey tasting to the end of July.

As Before, we are very pleased to announce that we working again with John Bell, in concert with Keating's Butchers to put on a bumper tasting of freshly prepared surf and turf with w**e pairings. Please register your interest over the phone or by email so that we can add you to our specific mailing list for that event. It is likely to occur in August or early September, and as soon as the details are finalised we will inform everyone on our mailing list first, and then advertise tickets publicly.
