Goats won’t graze, they say. Goats won’t go out in the rain, they say. Tell that to the Himmon bucks 🤷🏼‍♀️

Weeds taking over your grazing? Tired of relying on chemical solutions. Did you know: Boer goats might just be the answer you’re looking for! 🌱

As natural browsers, goats have a tendency to seek out a range of different plants in their diet, and while they will graze on grass, they’ll often make a beeline for weeds and shrubs such as bramble, thistles, docks, and dandelions.

They are also more tolerant of tannins than some other species such as sheep, meaning they can even consume - in small quantities, as toxicity is still possible and should be monitored for - oak leaves. Even gorse and nettles are often on the menu, especially as other forages become more sparse in the autumn!

All in all, as far as natural weedkillers go, few other options come close (at least in our - admittedly biased - opinion)!

✨ Nb. With that being said, we always recommend that buyers source stock from a herd that operates on a similar system to the one they intend to run, just to be sure the goats are bred with that goal in mind. 🌟

Himmon Bumpkin’s looking rather fed up with this pregnancy malarkey. Shouldn’t be long now, old girl. 💕

After over a decade of stringent genetic selection, we are proud to announce that we have successfully isolated the so-called “double muscling” gene within our purebred Pedigree Boer herd.

This trait, arguably best known in Belgian Blue cattle, is the result of mutations to the myostatin gene, which result in far greater muscle growth in stock, thereby leading to a meatier, leaner carcass and higher carcass yields. 💪
