SCCF STATEMENT – AUGUST 2026

On 17 June the Directors announced that planning for next year’s Fair was being paused whilst the Show Committee considered the financial implications of the continued decline in attendance numbers at the event held on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May.

After careful consideration of a variety of proposals and alternative options for maintaining the event, the Committee has reluctantly and unanimously concluded that it would not be financially viable for the Fair to continue.

Payments have already been made to this year’s beneficiaries bringing the total amount disbursed to charities supporting local children to nearly £1.4m over the last 30 years. This is an extraordinary achievement and we are most grateful to all those who have supported the Fair over this period whether as Volunteers, Stewards, Patrons, Sponsors, Exhibitors, Trade Stands, Caterers, Contractors and particularly the Sherborne Castle Estate as our host.

Thank you for all your support and Good Bye.

From time to time I need to rehome goats to make way for future additions. This time it was Iris and Elodie as I want to breed Demelza this autumn. I’m really happy that they have gone to a super home just up the road with a lovely family. I’m always reluctant to advertise as I am so worried about their future. This time, no advertising, just happened, worked out great! ❤️

I didn’t let the girls onto this strip while the wheat was there. The electric is on mains but they can be devious so I need to be there all the time- which I can’t.
I’m very nervous about the fire risk and I’m so glad they are making a firebreak. Long dry grass and the bramble has gone mad! Excellent fire fuel.
They love their job!

I also got some exercise weights which will double up as gazebo weights. Or is it the other way round? 🤔

The universe pointed me towards this very comfy chair which is VERY comfy and I can get on it without a step!
